Sunny days are continuing almost for three weeks.
Leaves of potato are dying in the raised beds of the potager.
So, we harvested potato today.
We had grown 'Kita-Akari',
and we had a good crop.
晴れた日がほぼ３週間続いています.
ポタジェのレイズドベッドでジャガイモの葉が枯れてきています.
そこで、今日はジャガイモの収穫をしました.
育てていたのは「キタアカリ」
たくさん取れました.
Potato keeps green leaves in another raised bed.
We dug it and we had good crop, too.
もう一方のレイズドベッドのほうはまだ青い葉をつけていますが
こちらも掘って、たくさん取れました.
We harvested 5 kg of potato.
収穫は５キロほどでした.
Leaves were heaped in the compost bin in the new garden.
Horse manure was put on it.
葉っぱは新しい庭にあるコンポスト容器にいれ、
その上を馬糞で覆いました.
After the harvest, we planted four young plants of lavender,
raised from cuttings since the last autumn, in other raised beds.
We planted Santolina in those beds last year.
Lavender and Santolina have silver leaves and the contrast of leaf colours
with light green box hedge looks nice, I think.
収穫のあと、去年の秋に挿し木をして育てたラベンダーの苗を
ほかのレイズドベッドに植えつけました.
去年サントリナを植えています.
ラベンダーとサントリナは銀色の葉をもち、
ボックスの生垣と葉の色のコントラストが素敵に見えると思っています.
Mmm, your potato crop looks good! We have planted three varieties this year, 'Swift', 'Isabel' and 'Charlotte'. we have just started eating the 'Charlottes', they taste so much better than anything that can be bought in the shops.
