READING IN AN ARBOUR SEAT IN AUTUMN (秋の一日、庭のアーバーシートで読書)

A comfortable season for reading in a garden has come. 

The maximum temperature was 21C today, and it was dry and partly sunny. 

I spent most of the day time in our gardens.  

I brought a dark brown cushion and a book to the arbour seat. 

There are a large raised bed in front of the arbour seat, 

in which lantana, rose and Mexican meadow sage are in bloom. 

I chose a novel of Yukio Mishima 'Spring Snow' for reading. 

I bought this secondhand book published in 1971 ten years ago.  

I’m pleased with its purple metallic hard cover. 

Old kana orthography was used in this book, 

and I feel as if I read a very old book. 

庭での読書がとても心地よい季節がやってきました.

今日の最高気温は21度で、空気は乾いて晴れたり曇ったり.

一日の大半を庭で過ごしました.

こげ茶色のクッションと本をアーバーシートに持ち込みます.

アーバーシートの前には大きなレイズドベッドがあって、

ランタナやバラ、アメジストセージなどが咲いています.

読書には三島由紀夫の小説「春の雪」を選びました.

この古本は1971年の出版で、10年ほど前に買いました.

背表紙のメタリックな紫色を気に入っています.

旧仮名遣いで書かれていて、

とても古い本を読んでいるような気分になります.
