Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

THREE VARIETIES OF BLUE/PURPLE SALVIA (青/紫のサルビア3種)

We love salvia, especially blue and purple,
and three varieties of blue/purple salvia are in bloom in our main garden.

私たちはサルビアの特に青や紫が好きで、
主庭では今、3種類の青と紫のサルビアが咲いています.

The first is Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna', which grows in the terraced herb beds.

It flowers from April to May.
Its dark purple flowers look stunning!

最初はサルビアネモローサ「カラドンナ」で、ハーブの段々畑で育てています.
四月から五月に花を咲かせます.
その濃い紫色がとって綺麗！

The second is Salvia leucantha, which grows in the central flower bed.
It is commonly called Mexican bush sage (or Amethyst sage in Japan).
Its velvet-textured purple flowers look so wonderful.
It flowers in early summer and autumn.

二番目はアメジストセージで中央花壇で育っています.
そのベルベットのような感じの紫の花は素晴らしい.
初夏と秋に花は咲きます.

The last is Salvia guaranitica in the blue border and in the terraced herb beds.
Blue colour of flowers is beautiful with black stems.
It repeatedly bears flowers from early summer to autumn.
