RED BABY SUN ROSE ON THE SLEEPER STEPS (枕木階段の赤いハナツルソウ)

Baby sun rose or Aptenia cordifolia is a mat-forming evergreen perennial succulent.
The leaves are bright green, and it bears red flowers. 

I found it in a coast and grew it by cutting.
Now it grows between sleepers of the steps with sedum.

ハナツルソウはマット状に育つ常緑の多年生多肉植物です.
葉は明るい緑色で赤い花をつけます.
海岸で見つけて差し穂で育てました.
枕木の階段で枕木の間にセダムと一緒に育っています.

BEAUTIFUL LEAVES OF HOSTA (ギボウシの美しい葉)

Hosta has beautiful leaves and looks stunning in the garden.
We planted four varieties under the plum tree in the main garden.
Some start to grow early in spring and other grow late,
and now all of them show their wonderful leaves.
One of them, 'Mediovariegata', is in bloom now.

ギボウシは美しい葉をもち、庭でも素晴らしく見えます.
メインガーデンにはスモモの木の下に4品種を育てています.
春に早く育ってくるものとゆっくり出てくるものがありますが、
今はすべてが出そろって美しい葉を見せています.
そのうちのメディオバリエガータは今花をつけています.

MONTBRETIA BESIDE THE COMPOST BIN (堆肥箱横のヒメヒオウギスイセン)

Montbretia has orange-red beautiful flowers in addition to sword-shape wonderful leaves and we love it.
However, sometimes it is troublesome because of its vigorous growth.
Montebretia in the bluebell garden looks stunning in the morning sunshine. 

ヒメヒオウギスイセンは赤橙色の美しい花ときれいな葉が特徴で気に入ってます.
でも、広がりすぎて時々やっかいでもあります.
ブルーベルの庭では朝日に照らされてとても素敵です.

PLUM IS RIPENING (スモモが熟してきました)

We planted two varieties of plum about  years ago,
and bore delicious fruits every year.
Two years ago one of them suddenly died just after bearing lots of fruits.
We really disappointed.
Now the other plum bears many fruits and some are ripening. 

15年ほど前に2品種のスモモを植え付けました.
そして毎年おいしい実をつけていました.
2年前にたくさんの実をつけた直後に突然そのうちの一つが枯れたのです.
ほんとうにがっかりしました.
そして今、残ったスモモの木がいくつも実をつけて、熟してきています.

The rainy season starts on 5th June on average in the north part of Kyushu Island, and Met office announced that the rainy season has come today, which is the latest record.

ORANGE TRUMPET VINE FLOWERS (ノウゼンカズラ)

Trumpet vine is a flower of summer.
Its vivid red or orange colour looks so nice in the summer blue sky.
One of two varieties in our garden, Campsis radicans, is already flowering,
and the other, Compsis grandiflora, has started to flower now. 

We really love its colour.

ノウゼンカズラは夏の花です.
その真っ赤やオレンジ色は夏の青空の下でとても素晴らしく見えます.
すでに2つの品種の一つ、アメリカノウゼンカズラは咲き続けていますが、
もう一方のノウゼンカズラも咲き始めたところです.
この色、大好きです.

GLOBE ARTICHOKE IS IN BLOOM (アーティチョーク開花)

We picked and cooked artichoke flower buds several times in May,
and flowers left are in bloom now.
Flowers are big and its purple colour looks so stunning.

五月に何度かアーティチョークを取って料理しましたが、
残っていた花が今咲いています.
花は大きくて、その紫色がとても素晴らしいです.

AGAPANTHUS IN THE BLUE BORDER (ブルーボーダーのアガパンサス)

Agapanthus flowers in the rainy season in our area,
however, it has not come yet and dry weather is continuing.
We are busy watering every day.
Blue colour of agapanthus looks so cool and we love it.

アメリカノウゼンカズラの赤い花と一緒に

アガパンサスは私たちの住む地方では梅雨時期に咲きます.
しかし、今年はまだ梅雨が来ず、乾いた天候が続いています.
それで水やりに忙しい毎日です.
アガパンサスの青色はとっても涼しそうに見えて大好きです.

ROSELIKE FLOWERS OF GARDENIA (バラ咲きのクチナシ)

Gardenia has a splendid sweet smell, and its double variety looks like a rose.
We grew it by cuttings and planted in the central flower bed.
Blue Geranium 'Azure Rush' and purple Lantana montevidensis are flowering with it.

クチナシは素晴らしい甘い香りがあり、
八重咲はバラの花のようです.
挿し木で増やして中央花壇に植えました.
ゲラニウム「アズールラッシュ」の青い花とコバノランタナの紫の花が一緒です.
