Last night, rain with strong winds scattered many petals of Angela, the pink rose on the arch. The pink petals on the ground look very beautiful.
There are a few buds of Angela and it looks like we will be able to enjoy them for a while longer.
昨夜、強い風を伴う雨が降って、アーチのピンクのバラ、アンジェラの花びらが沢山散りました。地面に落ちたピンクの花びらがとても綺麗です。
アンジェラは少し蕾もあって、もうしばらく楽しめそうです。
The roses on the sleeper steps and at the white fence are just starting to come into their own. The branches of the roses that were in full bloom on Sunday have been weeping under the weight of the rain.
バラは中央階段や白いフェンスのところのバラたちはこれからが本番です。日曜日の雨で満開だったバラたちの枝は雨の重みでしだれています。
Today was the first day of the open garden. The weather was pleasant, sunny and cloudy with light winds. This year we were able to welcome many visitors to the garden, although we had to hold back on publicity in advance. Thank you very much for coming out.
Unfortunately, rain is forecast for tomorrow, but we hope you will visit the garden again.
今日はオープンガーデンの一日目でした。晴れのち曇りで風も弱く、過ごしやすい天気でした。今年は事前の広報活動も控え気味でしたが、多くの来園者をお迎えできました。お出でいただいて本当にありがとうございました。

Tomorrow and the day after are open gardens. We made preparations for this today.
The weather is forecast to be sunny and cloudy tomorrow and rainy the day after tomorrow.
The pink and orange roses on the brick wall are now in full bloom in the garden, as are the pink roses on the arch. They will both be at their best in the next few days.
The roses on the sleeper steps and white fence are just starting to flower.
The white climbing rose is nearing full bloom.
Please note that the central flower bed has not yet been neatly cleared after the removal work.
明日と明後日はオープンガーデンです。今日、その準備をしました。
お天気は明日は晴れのち曇り、明後日は終日雨の予報です。
今、庭ではレンガ塀のピンクのバラとオレンジのバラが満開で、アーチのピンクのバラも満開になりました。どちらも見ごろはあと数日という所です。
枕木の階段や白いフェンスのバラはこれから開花です。
白いつるバラは満開に近づいています。
中央花壇の撤去工事のあとが、まだ綺麗に整地されていませんのでご注意下さい。
The blue flower border on the east side of the main garden, with the arbour seat at its centre, has blue and purple flowers throughout the four seasons.
At the beginning of May, catmint starts to bloom. It smells very refreshing to the slightest touch. The best time to see it is during the next month.
Another flower in bloom is the Clematis florida (Asian virginsbower). he flowers are long-lasting and can be enjoyed for a while.
メインガーデンの東側にある、屋根付きベンチを中心にした青の花壇は、四季を通じて青や紫色の花が咲きます。
5月の初めにはキャットミントが咲き始めます。ちょっと触れるだけでとても爽やかな香りがします。これから一か月間が見頃です。
もう一つ咲いている花は、テッセンです。クレマチスの一種で紫のしべが特徴です。花もちがよいので当分楽しめます。
Amaryllis blooms every year at this time of year to greet visitors as they enter the main garden up the steps from the bottom. Many years ago, an acquaintance gave me some amaryllis bulbs to grow every year. Two two-tone red and white varieties are in flower now, and the crimson variety will soon begin to flower. The white variety does not seem to be flowering this year. They welcome visitors to our open garden.
下から階段を上がってメインガーデンに入る所に、この時期に毎年アマリリスが咲いて来園者を出迎えます。何年も前に毎年アマリリスの球根を知り合いから頂いて育ててきました。赤と白のツートンカラーが2種類今咲いていますが、間もなく深紅の品種も咲き始めます。今年は白い品種は花をつけないようです。オープンガーデンでお客様を歓迎します。
About five months after planting the seedlings last December, we harvested the onions. Many of them did not grow big enough, perhaps a little too early, but I think they did well for the first time they were made. After that we plan to plant dwarf mini-tomato seedlings.
Leaves were cut and placed in a compost bin.
去年の12月に苗を植えて約5か月、タマネギの収穫をしました。少し時期が早すぎたのか、十分大きく育っていないものも多かったのですが、初めて作った割にはうまく行ったと思います。そのあとには矮性のミニトマトの苗を植え付け予定です。
葉っぱは切ってコンポスト容器に入れました。
