TRANSPLANTING WHITE GINGER(ジンジャーリリーの植え替え)

Several years ago, we planted Hedychium coronarium (White Ginger) at the south-west corner of the garden. It locates on the steep slope.  It grows 6 feet (180 cm) every summer, and it has very fragrant white flowers in September.

In September 2014,  white ginger lily (rear), white clematis (left) and white rose (Iceberg) were flowered.

White flowers smell so sweet.

As it has grown too thick, we had planed to divide and transplant it.
The border was too narrow to plant it with other plants, I decided to make it wider by using earth retaining timber planks.

In autumn ginger was cut short.

So I went to the DIY store and bought timber planks (pressure-treated with preservative) and plastic posts.

After setting earth retaining timber planks with posts and filling it with soil, all white ginger was dug up, divided and re-planted there.

This is about one third of whole ginger.

Finally, the planks were painted dark brown.

Before painting
Planks were painted dark brown.

White ginger was planted at the rear of the bed, and yellow canna was planted in the middle.   At the front of the bed, white daffodils were planted.
