BLUE MISTFLOWER (セイヨウフジバカマ)

 

In the main garden, we grow plants that look cool in summer with bright blue-coloured flowers, such as chaste tree and potato vine, but the blue mistflower also blooms in August with cool-coloured flowers.

This year, some of the plants were diseased and about half of them died, but the rest are safe and have started to flower. You can enjoy the flowers for the next couple of weeks.

メインガーデンにはセイヨウニンジンボクやツルハナナスなどのように夏に明るいブルー系の色の花をつけて涼しげに見える植物を育てていますが、セイヨウフジバカマもまた涼しげな色の花を八月に咲かせます。

今年は一部に病気が発生して半分ぐらい枯れてしまいましたが、残りは無事で花を咲かせ始めました。これから2，3週間ほど花を楽しめます。

BLUE MISTFLOWER LOOKS SO COOL (涼し気なセイヨウフジバカマの花)

 

Pretty light purple flowers in the garden in midsummer. 

Combined with the bright green of its leaves, it looks very cool. 

The above-ground parts die back in winter, but sprout and grow again in spring, flowering again in summer.

真夏の庭で咲く薄紫色の可憐な花、セイヨウフジバカマ. 

その葉の明るい緑色と相まって、とても涼しげに見えます. 

冬には地上部は枯れますが、春にはまた芽吹いて成長し、夏にまた花を咲かせます.

BLUE FLOWERS IN MID-SUMMER (真夏の青い花々)

 

I was looking out of my window into the garden and saw some flowers amongst the overgrown wisterias on the brick wall. These flowers bloomed in spring and are now returning in small numbers. The flowers are a beautiful blue-purple colour and I tried to photograph them with the other blue flowers in the garden. 

家の窓から庭を見ているときに、レンガ塀の上に茂っているフジの中に花をみつけました. 春に咲いて、また今、少しですが返り咲きしている花たちです. 美しい青紫色の花で、庭のブルー系の他の花たちと一緒に撮影してみました.

SMALL FLOWERS IN AUGUST II (八月の小さな花たち ２)

 

Today I would like to show you two small flowers that are blooming well in the rain. 

The first is cuphea. It is blooming from spring to autumn. The plant is getting bigger, but we prune it every autumn to keep its size. 

雨の中でも健気に咲いている小さな花を、今日は2種類紹介します. 

一つはクフェア. 春から秋までよく咲いています. だんだん株は大きくなりますが、毎年秋には剪定をして大きさをキープしています. 

The other is blue mistflower. 

These fresh, light blue flowers, together with the bright green foliage, provide a cooling effect in the heat of summer. 

もう一つはセイヨウフジバカマ. 

水色の爽やかな小花が夏の暑いときに、明るい緑の葉と一緒に、涼しさを届けてくれます.

BLUE MISTFLOWER LOOKS COOL (ユーパトリウムが涼しげです)

 

Blue mistflower is full bloom in our garden. 

It is grown in two containers; 

one beside the white wooden fence, and the other beside the brick wall. 

Its light blue colour looks cool

in spite of the boiling hot weather.

MID-SUMMER HAS COME AT LAST WITH BLUE SKY (ついに真夏が青空とやってきた)

庭に真夏がやってきた

Japanese Met Office declared
that the rainy season was over in the northern Kyusyu area today.

The sky has changed from dark gray to beautiful blue.

There will be sunny days for at least a week ahead. 
Some plants were so surprised at strong heat of the sun that they wilted in the afternoon.

気象庁は九州北部が梅雨明けしたと宣言しました.
空は暗い灰色から美しいブルーに変わりました.

少なくとも向こう一週間は晴れるようです.
あまりに強い太陽の熱で、午後にはすこし萎れる植物もありました.
