Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

EARLY SPRING FLOWERS IN THE MAIN GARDEN (早春の花たち)

Many early spring flowers are in bloom in the main garden.
Today I post some pictures of them.
We find a subtle but definite changes everyday.
How wonderful the spring is!

たくさんの早春の花がメインガーデンで咲いています
今日は少し写真を載せましょう
毎日少しですが確かな変化を見つけます
春は何とすばらしいのでしょう

BLUE FLOWERS IN EARLY SPRING (早春の青い花たち)

Several blue flowers are in bloom in our garden now.

今、青い花が庭でいくつか咲いています。

The first one is muscari:
Its leaves grows in late autumn and winter, and the leaves become untidy and look like noodles
when it bears flowers. Flowers are stunning but leaves are unsightly.

最初はムスカリ
葉は秋の終わりから冬に育って、だんだんだらしなくなって
花が咲くころにはヌードルのようになります.
花は素敵だけど、葉は見栄えしません.

The second is hyacinth:

It flowers every spring, however a number of flowers borne along a stalk often decreases.

It may be due to shortage of nutrition.

二つ目はヒアシンス.

毎年春に花はさきますが、花茎につく花の数がよく少なくなっています.

栄養不足なのかな

The third is crocus:

They grow at the base of a climbing rose.

I like stripes of white and purple-blue of flowers and white and green of leaves.

三番目はクロッカス

ツルバラの株元で育っています.

花の白と青紫のストライプ、そして葉の白と緑のストライプが気に入ってます.

And the last is violet:

There are so many species of violet in Japan.

This species is most popular in our garden.

最後はスミレ

日本にはたくさんの種類のスミレがあります.

この種類が私たちの庭では一番よく見かけます.

BLUE FLOWERS IN EARLY SPRING (早春の青い花たち)

Crocus, violet, ajuga and muscari are the members of spring blue flowers in our garden. Violet (Viola mandshurica) and Ajuga decumbens are native plants in Japan, and they grow spontaneously in our garden. When we weed, they are selected to be left if possible.

（クロッカス、スミレ、キランソウ、そしてムスカリは、うちの庭の代表的な春の青い花たちです。スミレとキランソウは日本の原産で、庭に自然に生えてきます。草取りをするときには、できれば残すようにしています。）

In a few days, hyacinth and Vinca major have also started to bloom. There are lots of blue flowers in our garden now.
