Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

RED AND WHITE COLOURS IN AUTUMN (秋の紅白の彩り)

Coleus has been brightening up the garden with its vibrant foliage colours since early summer and is still beautiful in autumn. As it is not cold hardy, cuttings will be taken next month to prepare for next season.

初夏からずっと鮮やかな葉色で庭を明るくしてきたコリウスは、秋もまだ美しい色を保っています. 耐寒性がないので、来月には挿し穂を取って来シーズンに備えます.

Hibiscus mutabilis produce new flowers every day in autumn. The pest caterpillar often makes holes in the leaves, but now the damage is less severe. The pure white petals and yellow stamens are very beautiful.

フヨウは秋に毎日次々と新しい花をさかせます. 害虫の芋虫がしばしば葉っぱを穴だらけにしてしまいますが、今は被害は少なく済んでいます. 真っ白い花びらと黄色いしべがとても美しい花です.

WINTER IS COMING (冬の足音)

This morning the temperature dropped below 5 degrees Celsius.
The winter is just around the corner.
In the garden, roses are losing leaves,
seed heads of hibiscus are growing, some of which became brown,
and leaves of blueberry are becoming red.

今朝の気温は摂氏5度を下回り、
すぐそこまで冬到来
庭ではバラの葉がだんだん落ちていて
フヨウの種が育ち、一部は茶色っぽくなってきて、
ブルーベリーの葉が紅葉を開始しました.

I'm going to a high-school reunion next weekend.

We class mates are in the autumn of life,

and I'm looking forward to meeting and talking again.

Will he come? Will she come? ...

CUTE FLOWERS OF CUPHEA (クフェアの可愛い花)

Hibiscus mutabilis is bearing pink flowers at the white wooden fence.
Today I introduce another pink flowers of cuphea just beside the hibiscus.
Flowers of cuphea are quite small and cute.
It continues to flower for a long period, and is one of my favorites.

フヨウが白いフェンスのところでピンクの花を咲かせ続けています.
今日はその隣に咲くもう一つのピンクの花を紹介します.
クフェアの花はとっても小さくて可愛らしいです.
長い間咲き続けて、お気に入りです.

'UNKNOWN PLANT' BEARS WHITE FLOWER (未知の植物の白い花)

A white flower of a plant of unknown origin is in bloom for the first time.

I posted this plant in June 2018 as an article titled as 'TODAY'S SHOT: An Unknown Plant which Grew from Seed Sold as Oriental Poppy in UK'.

This looks exactly like Hibiscus mutabilis (Confederate Rose).

The reason why hibiscus grew is unknown and mysterious.

正体不明の植物に白い花が初めて咲きました.
去年の六月に「今日の一枚：オリエンタルポピーとして売られていた種から育っている未知の植物」としてアップした植物です.
フヨウにそっくりです.
なぜフヨウが育ってきたかは謎です.

BLUEBELL GARDEN IN LATE AUTUMN (晩秋のブルーベルの庭)

In the bluebell garden beyond the iron rose arch beside the brick wall,
leaves of the cherry have already fallen
and the Japanese maple has turned its leaves orange-red.
