In winter, the pink oxalis “Momo-no-kagayaki (Peach Splendour)” blooms in the peony raised bed. When sunlight hits, the flowers open; when the sun goes in, they close. If cloudy days persist, the flowers remain shut. Seeing them open instantly brightens our mood.
シャクヤクのレイズドベッドに冬はピンクのオキザリス「桃の輝き」が咲きます。太陽の光が当たると花は開き、日がかげると花は閉じます。曇りの日が続くと、花もずっと閉じたままです。花が開いてるのを見るとパッと気持ちも明るくなります。

冬になると花も少なくなってしまいますが、今咲いているピンクの花を二つ紹介します。
One is a bulb plant called Oxalis 'Pink Splendour'. It germinates in autumn from a small bulb just a few millimetres across and starts to flower at the start of winter, and in spring it finishes flowering, the above-ground parts gradually wither away and the plant goes dormant in summer. Its bright pink colour is striking. It flowers only when the sun shines, on cloudy days and at night the flowers are closed and one flower remains in bloom for a very long time.
一つはオキザリスの「桃の輝き」という球根植物です。数ミリの小さな球根から秋に発芽して、冬に入るころから咲き始めて、春になると花も終わり、地上部は次第に枯れて夏は休眠します。その鮮やかなピンクが印象的です。晴れた日中だけ開花し、あとは花は閉じていて、一つの花がとても長く咲いています。
