HYDRANGEA LOOKS STUNNING IN THE RAIN (アジサイは雨が似合う--梅雨入り)
Japan Meteorological Agency declared that the rainy season have started
in the western part of Japan.
It started raining this morning and the garden has got wet.
Hydrangea is one of the most popular flowers in the rainy season June.
It looks much stunning in the rain.
Several varieties of Hydrangea macrophylla are now blooming.
気象庁は西日本の入梅を宣言しました.
今朝から雨が降りだして、庭はすっかり濡れています.
アジサイは梅雨のシーズンの代表的な花の一つで
雨のときにとくに美しく見えます.
アジサイのいくつかの品種が今、咲いています.

GARDEN PLANTS COMING INTO BUD (庭では一斉に芽が吹き出して)
Though it's still cold and cloudy with some rain these days,
many garden trees and shrubs are coming into bud in our garden.
まだまだ寒くて曇りがちで雨も時々降る天気ですが、
庭の木々は一斉に芽を出してきています.
The first tree flower in March in our garden is plum flowers,
and flower buds are almost opening today.
3月に最初に花を咲かせる木はスモモで、
花の蕾が今にも開きそうです.

And, the second is blueberry.
All leaves had fallen in February at last,
and their flower buds is swelling, some fresh leaves emerging.
二番目はブルーベリーで
2月にはやっと葉が全部散って、
花芽が膨らんできて葉も少し伸びてきています.
Other plants, such as hydrangea, clematis and euphorbia are growing their fresh leaves,
and this is an opening of the new season of our gardening.
他の植物、アジサイやクレマチス、ユーフォルビアなども新緑が伸びてきて、
いよいよ私たちのガーデニングの新しいシーズンも始まります.

PLANTING IN NEW GARDEN (新しい庭への植栽)
Under the plum tree, lilac-purple flowers of Liriope muscari are in bloom.
It is native in Japan in shady forests.
I transplanted some of it into the new garden.
Chameleon plants are growing well, and cuttings of hydrangea are also growing.
スモモの木の下にヤブランの青紫の花が咲いています。
日本で日かげの林床に自生する植物です。
いくつか新しい庭に移植しました。
ドクダミはよく育っていますし、アジサイの挿し芽も成長しています。

We are preparing to plant English bluebells in the new garden.
Today I went to the local nursery to buy bluebell bulbs which I had ordered.
We will plant them in the new garden soon.

注文していた球根を買いに今日ナーセリーに行ってきました。
近いうちに植えつけるつもりです。

FLOWER ARRANGEMENT OF THE LAST ROSES & HYDRANGEAS (最後のバラとアジサイのアレンジ)
Marple has arranged flowers of the last climbing roses and hydrangea in our garden this afternoon.
（家内が今日の午後、庭の最後のツルバラの花とアジサイを使ってアレンジしました。）
The rose season in early summer has almost been over and all of the climbing roses on the arches Rosa 'Pierre de Ronsard' and 'Angela' had been cut before she arranged flowers.
（初夏のバラのシーズンもほとんど終わり、アレンジのためにアーチのバラ「ピエール・ド・ロンサール」と「アンジェラ」の花をすべて切りました。）
Blue hydrangeas had also been cut for the arrangement.
（青いアジサイもアレンジのために切りました。）
This is the 2015 version of Marie Antoinette-style flower arrangement in our garden.

THIS WEEKEND (この週末）
This weekend we had no rain. It was mostly cloudy with some sunshine, and it was very humid.
We were busy at gardening.
（この週末は雨は降らず、曇り空で時々日がさす天気で、蒸し暑い日でした。庭仕事に忙しい週末でした。）
I made an observation platform (a bench and a handrail) at the top of a new garden.
（新しい庭の一番上にベンチと手すりを設置して展望台としました。）

Rosa 'Crown Princess Margareta' at the brick wall had been dead last month. I dug it up and examined its reason. Eventually I had found a larva of Anoplophora malasiaca ( 'Teppo-Mushi' in Japanese). That is the most dreadful pest of roses in Japan.
（レンガ塀のバラ「クラウン・プリンセス・マルガリータ」が先月枯れました。昨日これを掘り上げて原因を調べてみたところ、ゴマダラカミキリの幼虫、テッポウムシを見つけました。日本で最悪のバラの害虫です。）

Our friend in my town had given us herbaceous cuttings of four kinds of hydrangea, and we planted them in small pots today. The picture below shows flowers and cuttings.
（町内の友人が4種類のアジサイの枝をくれたので、小さなポットに挿し芽をしました。下の写真は花と挿し芽です。）
Hydrangea flowers were arranged with Rosa 'Angela'. Vivid pink colour of the flowers brightens the atmosphere.
（アジサイとバラのアンジェラをアレンジして、その鮮やかなピンク色が雰囲気をぱっと明るくしてくれます。）

FULLY BLOOMED HYDRANGEA (満開の紫陽花)
In Japan, the hydrangea blooms in June. It is a symbolic flower in the rainy season. There are so many hydrangea plants in my neighbourhood including our garden, and they are now in full bloom.
（日本ではアジサイは６月に咲きます。梅雨の時期のシンボリックな花です。うちの庭を含めてご近所にはたくさんのアジサイの木があり、今満開となっています。）
