It was in October that the pentagonal frames (cold frames, insect net frames) that had been installed in the raised beds of the potager to protect vegetables and other plants from cold and insects broke down after 10 years and were removed. Since then, I have been thinking of various ideas for an easy-to-make insect netting frame, and now that I have the materials, I have made one.
The materials are thin aluminium posts for gardening, timber and fibreglass rods for polytunnels. I made blocks a few centimetres square from square timber, drilled holes in them to insert the posts and rods, and inserted them to assemble the pentagonal frame. The design was intended to retain the feel of the previous frames. This is probably also the only design of its kind in the world.
Over this, I covered it with a three-metre square black fine-mesh insect net. Finally, a small terracotta pot was placed on top to hold the net in place. It also serves as a cane topper.
This will protect the vegetables from pests.
ポタジェのレイズドベッドに設置して寒さや害虫から野菜などを守ってきた五角形のフレーム（コールドフレーム、防虫ネットフレーム）が10年を過ぎて壊れて撤去したのは10月でした。その後、簡単に作れる防虫ネットのフレームのアイデアをいろいろ考えていましたが、材料がそろったので作ってみました。
材料は園芸用の細いアルミ製の支柱、木材、そしてポリトンネル用のグラスファイバー製のロッドです。角材から数センチ角のブロックを作り、それに支柱やロッドを差し込む穴をあけて差し込んで五角形の枠組みを組み立てました。デザインは以前のフレームの雰囲気を残すようなものとしました。これも多分世界に一つだけのデザインです。
その上から、3メートル四方の黒色の目の細かい防虫ネットを被せました。そして最後に小さな素焼き鉢をのせてネットを固定しました。支柱飾りの役割もあります。
これで害虫から野菜を守れそうです。
