WINTER IS FINALLY HERE (ついに冬が来た)
The weather had been warm until last week, but this week, after the rain on Monday, a cold air mass came down from the north and it suddenly became as cold as winter.
Even during the daytime, the temperature was only just over 10 degrees Celsius, and with no sunshine and strong wind, it felt really cold.
Our town, located on the northern coast of Kyushu Island, has a lot of cloudy weather in winter, which is a little depressing.
A couple who lives nearby goes to the Kanto region (near Tokyo) only during the winter. I would like to do so if I could. I wish I could do that, but I can't, because I have many gardening jobs in winter.
先週まで暖かい日が続いていましたが、今週になって月曜日の雨を境に寒気団が北から降りてきて、一気に冬のような寒さになりました。
日中も気温は10℃あまりしかなく、日差しがなく風が強いと本当に寒く感じます。
九州の北岸にある私たちの町は冬は曇りがちの天気が多くて少し憂鬱です。
近くに住むご夫婦は冬の間だけ関東地方に行かれます。できるならそうしたいところです。でも冬には冬の大事な庭仕事もあるので、そういうわけにも行きません。
There is a utility pole that I can see from my window where birds often perch.
Large birds such as Tonbi (black kite) often come to this pole, but crows also often perch there. Crows also often perch on the TV antenna of our neighbor's house.

窓から見えるところに鳥たちがよくとまっている電柱があります。大型の鳥であるトビがよくこの電柱に来ますが、カラスもよくとまります。カラスはお隣の家のテレビアンテナにもよくとまっています。そしてトビとカラスは敵対していて、トビがカラスを追い払ったり、逆にカラスが何羽も一緒にトビを襲ったりします。のんびり暮らしているように見えても、彼らも大変です。
From the window of my house, I can see the garden transitioning from autumn to winter: changing colours of cherry, maple and wisteria leaves, and dogwood whose stems turn bright red in winter.
家の窓からは秋から冬へ移ろう庭の景色がみられます。桜やカエデ、フジの紅葉、そして冬に茎が鮮やかな赤色になるサンゴミズキなどです。
In cold weather, the garden room becomes a comfortable shelter.

HAZY SKY TODAY (今日は春霞)
It was foggy this morning and we couldn't see Mt. Kaya

In the afternoon, fog had gone and the sky became hazy again with kosa
(fine yellow sand dust which came flying from Gobi Desert in Mongolia).
午後には霧は晴れましたが、
今度は黄砂（ゴビ砂漠から飛んでくる細かい黄色の砂の粉塵）で霞んできました.

Honeysuckle is now starting to bloom between the gazebo and the brick wall.

CHERRY BLOSSOM IN OUR GARDEN (庭の桜）
About half of flowers of the cherry tree in our garden are in bloom.
The number of flowers is increasing every day,
and it will be in full bloom in several days.
We really thank the cherry for its beautiful flowers in spring and cool shade in summer.
We worried about its condition last year
because its leaves were smaller and fewer than usual.
However, it is flowering almost as usual, and we really pleased with it.
庭の桜（ヤマザクラ）が五分咲きになっています.
毎日開花した花の数が増えて、数日で満開になりそうです.
桜の木の春の美しい花や夏の涼しい木陰に感謝です.
去年は葉が例年より葉が小さくて数も少なく、心配しましたが、
いつもの年とほとんど同じように咲いてくれて本当に喜んでいます.

BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY (素晴らしい休日）
Today is a national holiday.
We spent most of day time in our garden.
Plum is in full bloom and the sky and the sea was beautifully blue.
今日は国民の休日
一日の大半を庭で過ごしました.
スモモは満開、空や海はとても美しいブルーでした.

I finished the patio in front of the gazebo.
Natural grass was converted to artificial one in order to easily manage.
Concrete basis was covered with artificial turf.
ガゼボの前のパティオを完成しました.
天然芝を人工に変えて、日ごろの管理を楽にするためです.
コンクリートの基礎の上に人工芝を設置しました.

RED SKY IN THIS MORNING (今朝の朝焼け)
We take a walk in the morning almost everyday,
and the red sky in this morning was so wonderful.
So, we walked on the road along the coast
and took photographs shown below.
