Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

CHORUS OF CICADAS IN THE MORNING (朝の蝉の合唱)

Recently, the cicadas have been singing louder in the mornings. When I go out into the garden, I can hear the cicadas singing and singing in chorus on many trees in the neighbourhood.

このところ、朝からセミの鳴き声が大きくなってきました. 庭に出るとご近所のあちこちの木々でセミが鳴いて、合唱しています.

In the garden, summer flowers are blooming everywhere. The blue-purple duranta is one of them, with many flowers on its drooping branches.

庭では夏の花があちこちで咲いています. 青紫のデュランタもその一つで、枝垂れる枝にたくさんの花が咲いています.

The other flower is a bright yellow canna, the opposite colour to duranta. It was initially grown in a bathtub pool, but grew too large and was planted in the ground. It tends to overgrow a little.

もう一つの花は、デュランタとは反対色の鮮やかな黄色のカンナです. 当初はバスタブの池で育てていましたが、大きくなりすぎて地植えしました. 少し増えすぎるきらいがあります.
