POTAGER IN EARLY JUNE (六月初旬のポタジェ)

There was a thunder storm last night, and the potager was soaked.
Lavender and santolina were trimmed yesterday,
and they look tidy. 

昨夜や雷が鳴る嵐で、ポタジェはびしょ濡れです.

ラベンダーとサントリナは昨日剪定して

きちんと形が整っています.

Flowers of foxglove were over and we are going to collect seeds in a month. 

ジギタリスの花は終わり、ひと月ほどで種を取る予定です.

Rosa 'cocktail' has begun to flower again at She-Shed. 

乙女の部屋の所でバラのカクテルがまた咲き始めました.

Asparagus grows vigorously in raised beds as well as silene with white flowers. 

Nastatium and lettuce grows in pentagonal frames. 

アスパラガスが、白い花のフクロナデシコと一緒に
レイズドベッドで旺盛に茂っています.
五角形のフレームの中ではナスタチウムとレタスが育っています.

STAR-SHAPED FLOWERS OF POTAGER IN EARLY SUMMER (初夏のポタジェに咲く星形の花)

It is a wonderful season now.
There are beautiful flowers and leaves everywhere in the gardens.

今はとても素晴らしい季節
美しい花や緑が庭中に溢れています

Just outside of the fence of the potager,
white cute flowers are in bloom.
And looking over the fence,
corn poppy and foxglove are still in full bloom. 

ポタジェのフェンスのすぐ外側には
白くてかわいらしい花が咲いています.
そしてフェンスの向こうを見ると
ポピーやジギタリスがまだまだ満開です.

The shrub with white flowers is Deutzia setchuenensis. 

It is a small shrub with grey-green ovate leaves

 and flattened clusters of small, star-shaped, pure white flowers. 

この白い花をつけた低木はシセンウツギです.
灰色がかった緑の卵型の葉っぱで
小さな星形の純白の花からなる平たい花房をつけます.

In the raised herb beds

Allium cristophii bears a flowerhead with a number of purple star-shaped flowers. 

It is commonly called star of Persia. 

Combination of its purple colour and silver-green of lavender and santolina is stanning.  

ハーブのレイズドベッドではアリウム・クリストフィアイが
無数の紫色の星型の花のネギ坊主をつけています.
ペルシャの星と呼ばれています.
その紫と、ラベンダーやサントリナのシルバーがかった緑の
コントラストがたまりません.

APPLE, BROCCOLI & POPPY FLOWER TOGETHER IN THE POTAGER (ポタジェで花咲くリンゴ、ブロッコリー、ポピー)

Apples trained espalier and on the arch have started bloom in the kitchen garden.
We planted three varieties of apple
('Arupusu-otome', 'Fuji', and 'Tsugaru')
 for espalier training,
and planted another variety of crabapple ('Maypole' Ballerina)
for pollination.

ポタジェの垣根仕立てとアーチの上のリンゴが花を咲かせ始めました.

垣根仕立てのリンゴは３品種（アルプス乙女、富士、津軽）で、

授粉用にクラブアップルのメイポール・バレリーナも植えています.

Roses grow their leaves and prepare for flowering in May, 

and silver-leaf herbs (lavender and santolina) also started to grow.

ラベンダーとサントリナのレイズドベッドの中にスタンダード仕立てのバラ「メアリーローズ」

バラは葉を伸ばして五月の開花の準備をし、

銀葉のハーブ（ラベンダーとサントリナ）も成長を始めています.

In two hexagonal raised bed, broccoli, which we harvested throughout winter is in full bloom at last.   California poppy bears brilliant orange flowers. 

五角形の２つのレイズドベッドでは、

冬の間ずっと収穫したブロッコリーがついに花満開です.

ハナビシソウは鮮やかなオレンジ色の花を咲かせています.

In the frames, potato is growing. 

We'll harvest at the beginning of June just before the rainy season. 

フレームの中ではジャガイモが育っていて
梅雨にはいる直前、六月初旬に収穫の予定です.

A HAND-MADE X-MAS WREATH OF LAVENDER (ラベンダーの手作りのクリスマスリース)

Yesterday we trimmed lavender in the kitchen garden.  

It has grown well this season, and it has partially covered santolina in the same raised beds, some branches of which died because of lack of sunlight. 

Now winter has come, and we decided to trim lavender, 

and to make potpourri. 

昨日、ポタジェのラベンダーの剪定をしました.

今年、とてもよく成長して、

同じレイズドベッドに植えているサントリナに少し覆いかぶさって、

そのためサントリナの枝の一部に日が当たらず枯れました.

冬も来た事だし、ラベンダーの剪定して

ポプリを作ることにしました.

Leaves of lavender were so beautiful without disease and pest, 

we hit upon a plan to make a wreath of lavender. 

ラベンダーの葉は病害虫がなくとっても綺麗だったので、

ラベンダーのリースを作ることを思いつきました.

So, I cut some of branches of X-mas holly with its read berries. 

それで、クリスマスホリーの赤い実のついた枝を何本か切りました.

This is the X-mas wreath made of lavender and holly. 

Not so good shape, but it smells so nice. 

これがラベンダーとクリスマスホリーで作ったリースです.

形はいまいちですが、香りはとってもいいんです.

In the kitchen garden, lavender looks neat. 

In the frame, mini-burdock is growing. 

And, I covered broccoli with black nylon net 

in order not to be eaten by birds. 

ポタジェではラベンダーがすっきりなりました.
フレームの中ではミニゴボウが育っています.
ブロッコリーは鳥の食害から守るために
ナイロン製の黒いネットで覆いました.

NEW HERB BEDS IN THE POTAGER (ポタジェの新しいハーブ花壇）

We have been making herb beds in the potager since last November.
We planted santolina at first, and then lavender three months ago.
The lavender young plants were grown from cuttings that I took in our garden.
Now the four young plants have grown much better than santolina
 and they look stunning.

昨年11月からポタジェにハーブの花壇をつくっています
最初にサントリナを植え、3か月前にはラベンダーの苗を植え付けました
ラベンダーの苗は庭にあるラベンダーから取った挿し穂から育てたものです
4つの苗はサントリナよりも良く育っていて、とても綺麗です

Seedlings of carrot, miniature-burdock and Swiss chard are growing in two frames.
二つのフレームの中にはニンジン、ミニゴボウ、スイスチャードの苗が育っています
