WHITE FLOEWRS IN OUR GARDEN (庭の白い花々)

 

Today I'd like to introduce you to the white flowers in our garden.  Even now, in March, there are many varieties of white flowers in bloom.  Some are annuals, some are perennials, some are trees.  

今日は庭の白い花を紹介しましょう. 三月の今の時期でもおよそ十種類あまりの白い花が咲いています. 一年草もあれば多年草、花木もあります.

OUR GARDEN THIS MORNING (今朝の庭)

It was a beautiful morning today.
The sun rose at the right ridge of Mt. Kaya (Itoshima-Fuji).
The minimum temperature was 1 ℃. 

Echium candicans was covered with fleece to protect it from frost. 

今朝はとても美しい朝でした.

太陽は可也山（糸島富士）の右の稜線から上りました.

最低気温は摂氏1度、

霜の害から守るためにエキウムには寒冷紗をかけています.

Red and yellow barked dogwood looks so stunning in the morning sunshine. 

サンゴミズキと黄金ミズキが朝日で輝いています.

Some climbing roses are sprouting on the brick wall. 

レンガ塀のつるバラは芽吹いているものもあります.

Snowflake is almost in full bloom. 

スノーフレークはほとんど満開です

The morning sun is shining in the kitchen garden (potager). 

Reddish purple flowers of glory bush are glowing. 

Buds of espalier apple trees are still sleeping

including a heart-shaped branch. 

ポタジェ（菜園）にも朝日は射して、
ノボタンの赤紫の花が光り輝いています.
垣根仕立てのリンゴの芽は、ハート形の枝も含めて、まだ眠っています.

FLOWERS AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE GARDEN (庭の入口の花)

At the upper entrance of our main garden,
two varieties of Hardenbergia are in bloom; white and purple.
Light pink camellia is still flowering beside them. 

メインガーデンの上の入口に二種類のハーデンベルギアを植えています。

白とピンクです。

その横にはピンクのツバキが咲いています。

We planted snowflake bulbs which we dug up at the lower entrance of our garden  in a pot last autumn.  One of the bulb bears flowers because of warm weather. 

去年の秋、庭の下の入口のところから掘り出したスノーフレークの球根たちを鉢に植えました。そのうちの一つが花をつけています。暖かいからでしょう。

Pink Helleborus is also flowering there. 

ここにはピンクのクリスマスローズも今咲いています。

Narcissus is in full bloom, too.

スイセンも満開です

SNOWFLAKE FLOWERS (スノーフレークの花)

Snowflake (Leucojum) flowers are in bloom quietly beside the entrance 

of our garden. 

We planted bulbs several years ago, 

and they bear flowers every spring, however, 

they apparently do not proliferate.  

スノーフレーク（オオマツユキソウ、またはスズランスイセンとも）が今、

庭の入口の横で咲いています. 

数年前に球根を植え付け、

毎年春に花を咲かせますが、

あまり増えては来ないようです.

SPRING FLOWERS (春の花)

The weather has been getting warmer, and tulips in pots are blooming now.  Tulips in the potager will also bloom soon.


（気候が暖かくなってきて、植木鉢のチューリップが開いています。ポタジェのチューリップも間もなく開花しそうです。）

A wild tulip flower is also blooming under Rosa 'Snow Goose'.  

（スノーグースの下では野生のチューリップも咲いています。）

Two cute snowflake flowers welcome visitors at the entrance of the garden.


（スノーフレークの花が庭の入口でお客様を歓迎しています。）

Viola hanging baskets, which we made at the end of last December, are filled with flowers and they create a splendid atmosphere of spring with other fresh green leaves and flowers.


（昨年末につくったビオラのハンギングバスケットは花がたくさん咲いていて、ほかの新緑や花と一緒に素晴らしい春の雰囲気をつくりだしています。）

And the last one is margaret.  Our neighbour gave us cut flowers and my wife took cuttings from basal stems.  

（最後の花はマーガレット。お隣さんから切り花で頂いたので、家内が根元を挿し芽にしました。）
