COTSWOLD LAVENDER AND SNOWSHILL (コッツウォルズのラベンダーとスノーズヒル)

We love English lavender and tried to grow it, however,
we failed again and again,
because weather in the southern part of Japan is too hot and humid in summer.
So,
We were really looking forward to visiting lavender fields in Cotswolds.

イングリッシュラベンダーは大好きで、育ててみても
何度も失敗します
あまりに夏が暑くて湿度が高いせいだと思います
それで
コッツウォルズのラベンダー畑は楽しみにしていました

The Cotswold Lavender farm is located in Snowshill, 

ten minute drive from Broadway. 

There were only a few visitors as we visited there in late afternoon. 

コッツウォルド・ラベンダーはスノーズヒルにあり

ブロードウェイからは車で10分ほどです

午後も少し遅い時間に訪ねたので来園者は少なめでした

Several varieties of lavender were planted in the same field, 

and its contrast of colours were so beautiful. 

何種類ものラベンダーが同じ畑に植えてあり

色の対比がとても綺麗です

The field filled with deep bluish purple (i.e. lavender) colour was

what we really wanted to see, and 

our dream had come true. 

Its scent was also really wonderful. 

畑一面深い青紫（ラベンダー）色で

是非みてみたかった景色を見られて夢がかないました

香りも本当に素晴らしくて・・

The lavender fields were exactly in the midst of Cotswolds, 

which means 'sheep hills'. 

このラベンダー畑は文字通りコッツウォルズ（羊の丘）の真っただ中！

Just beside the lavender field, sheep were feeding on grass.
ラベンダー畑のすぐ横で草を食べる羊たち

　And there were wild flower meadow beside the lavender field. 

Blue flowers of devil's-bit scabious looked also stunning. 

ラベンダー畑の隣には野生の花の草原があって

とりわけヒメマツムシソウモドキの青い花も素晴らしかったです

After looking around the field, 

we went shopping at the souvenir shop. 

We bought dried lavender etc. 

ラベンダー畑を見て回ったあとに

土産物店でショッピング

ドライのラベンダーなどいろいろ買いました

In the evening, we went to the pub 'Snowshill Arms', 

which locates at the center of the Snowshill in front of the church,

and we enjoyed dinner.

This area is known for the film location site of the movie 'Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) '. 

この場所は映画「ブリジッド・ジョーンズの日記」のロケ地として知られています.

GARDEN CENTRE IN COTSWOLDS (コッツウォルズのガーデンセンター)

This was the first time we visited a garden centre in UK. 

It is close to Morton in Marsh. 

Its drive way is so long from the gate, 

and there are a arboretum and a Falconry centre in this large site, too. 

始めてイギリスのガーデンセンターに行きました.

モートン・イン・マーシュの近くです.

入り口からの道は長く、

同じ敷地に樹木園や鷹狩りセンターもあります.

In front of the garden centre, there were beautiful border gardens. 

ガーデンセンターの前に、美しいボーダーガーデンがありました.

Young plants (trees and shrubs)

We bought seeds and many kinds of garden items

including bird feeder and miniature staddle stones. 

種のほか、鳥の餌台、ミニチュアの土台石を含め

いろいろな庭仕事の道具など買いました.

HIDCOTE MANOR GARDENS (ヒドコートマナーガーデン)

This is the third visit to the Hidcote Manor Gardens, however, the first time in July. 

Flowering plants are mostly different compared to the last two visits. 

ヒドコートマナーガーデンは三度目ですが、七月は始めて.

咲いている花は過去2回とはかなり違います.

This 'room' with topiary trees and a pond  is my favorite, 

and we took our photograph here. 

ここはトピアリーと池があって私の好きな「部屋」、

自分たちの写真を撮りました.

Beside a bridge on a 'Long Walk', 

there are so many white flowers and some purple ones

ロングウォークの途中の橋の横に

たくさんの白い花に混じって紫の花が咲いています.

This place (a tree tunnel and a blue chair beside a dry stone wall) is another favorite. 

Ｉ am thrilled when I walk through it. 

この場所（木のトンネルと石の塀の横の青い椅子）もお気に入りで

歩いていくとわくわくします.

I think summer is the most beautiful season in the 'Red Border'. 

Red flowers and leaves looks stunning.

レッドボーダーでは夏が最も美しい季節だろうと思います.

赤い花や葉がとても素敵です.

In the kitchen garden, rhubarb is growing so large.  

In our garden, it usually die in summer because of very hot and humid weather.

菜園ではルバーブがとても大きく疎さっています.

うちの庭では高温多湿で夏に枯れてしまうことが多いです.

Courgette is still small.

In our garden it has grown over 1 x 1 meter. 

ズッキーニはまだ小さいです.

我が家では縦横1メートル以上に育っています.

After this we went to Kiftsgate Court Garden.

このあとキフツゲートコートガーデンへ行きました.
