The season when English bluebells bloom in the Bluebell Garden has arrived once again. The garden is filled with beautiful blue flowers. Although they are at their best for just a week or so, the English bluebell is undoubtedly the star of the Bluebell Garden.
ブルーベルの庭にまたイングリッシュブルーベルが咲く季節がやってきました。美しいブルーの花がたくさん咲いています。見ごろはわずか一週間ほどですが、ブルーベルの庭の主役はやっぱりこのイングリッシュブルーベルです。
Allium triquetrum has begun to bloom in the bluebell garden. They have bell-shaped white flowers with thin green stripes. The English bluebells will also start to bloom in mid-April, creating a beautiful display of bluebells and whitebells.
ブルーベルの庭でミツカドネギが咲き始めました。釣鐘型の白い花で細い緑の線が入っています。イングリッシュブルーベルも四月中旬には咲き始めて、ブルーベルとホワイトベルの競演がみられます。
The Allium triquetrum, also known as whitebells, is now in full bloom in the bluebell garden. It has white bell-shaped petals with thin green lines. The downward-facing blooms are lovely.
Bluebells usually bloom around this time of year, but the cold winter has delayed them. A closer look reveals that the bluebell's flower stalks are growing a little longer and some buds are showing a blue colour. We expect them to flower shortly. This is the time of year when the bluebell garden shines brightest.
ブルーベルの庭ではミツカドネギ、別名ホワイトベルが満開となりました。白い釣り鐘状の花びらに細い緑色の線があります。うつむいて咲く姿は可愛らしいです。
ブルーベルは例年なら今頃咲いていますが、寒い冬の影響で遅れています。よく見てみると、ブルーベルの花茎が少し伸びてきていて、青い色が見えるつぼみもあります。まもなく開花すると思います。ブルーベルの庭がいちばん輝く季節です。

The chameleon plant blooms towards the end of May, when leaves of whitebell and bluebell gradually wither away.
ブルーベルの庭では、四月の初めにホワイトベル（ミツカドネギ）が満開になり、それに続いて4月中旬にブルーベルが満開になります。
そしてそれらの葉が次第に枯れていく5月の末ごろにドクダミが開花します。

In summer, both whitebells and bluebells go dormant in their bulbs, and the chameleon plant thrives. And many other weeds also become overgrown.

Weeding in mid-summer is hard work due to the intense heat, but it is an important job for next spring's flowers.
夏はホワイトベルもブルーベルも球根で休眠となり、ドクダミが繁茂します。そして他の雑草もたくさん茂ります。
夏から秋にかけて、ドクダミも含めて草取りをします。ドクダミは地下茎で広がる非常に成長旺盛な植物なので、頻繁に地上部を刈り取ってその勢いをそぐ必要があります。
真夏の草取りは猛暑のために大変な仕事ですが、来春の花のための大事な仕事です。

English bluebells are beautiful bulbous plants that bloom in the spring woods of England. We grow them in our garden in the hope of seeing them in bloom. They bloom in mid-April every year and last for about 10 days, but it is more impressive because you only get to see them for a very short time. When the flowers bloom, the leaves lie down on their sides so the flowers are very easy to see.
Next to it grows Allium triquetrum, sometimes called white bell, which started flowering about two weeks earlier and has been in bloom for almost a month.
The competition between these two bell-shaped flowers is one of the highlights of our garden every year.
Between the bluebells, heart-shaped plants are sprouting, which are chameleon plant. It produces pretty white flowers in late May. Chameleon plant is another plant that prefers semi-shade. However, if it is too vigorous, it can weaken the bluebells' leaves by preventing them from being exposed to light, so we are careful to control the vigour of the chameleon plant.
イングリッシュブルーベルはイギリスの春の森で咲く美しい球根植物です。私たちの庭でも咲く姿をみたいと思って育てています。毎年四月中旬に咲いて、10日ほどで終わってしまいますが、ほんの短い期間しか見れないだけに、より感動があります。花が咲く時には葉は横に寝てしまうので花がとても見やすくなります。
隣にはホワイトベルと呼ばれることもあるミツカドネギを育てています。2週間ほど先に咲き始めて、一か月近く咲いています。
この二つのベル形の花の競演が毎年のこの庭の見どころの一つです。
ブルーベルの間にはハート形の植物が芽吹いてきていますが、これはドクダミです。五月の下旬に白い可愛らしい花をつけます。ドクダミも半日陰を好む植物です。ただ、ドクダミの勢いが強いとブルーベルの葉に光が当たらなくなって弱らせるので、ドクダミの勢いのコントロールには気を配っています。
