庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.
　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

PINK CARPET AND FRESH GREENERY (ピンクの絨毯と新緑)

 

The sasanqua camellia blooms profusely, scattering countless pink petals. The ground is transformed into a pink carpet. Beneath the sasanqua, Angelica japonica is developing lush new green foliage. Angelica japonica grows wild along the coast, with flowers reaching heights of over two metres. Though hardy in cold weather, its above-ground parts wither away in midsummer.


サザンカはたくさんの花を咲かせて、たくさんのピンクの花びらを散らしています。地面はピンクの絨毯となっています。サザンカの下にはハマウドが新緑を茂らせてきています。ハマウドは海岸に自生して、花の高さは2メートル以上にもなります。寒さには強いですが、真夏には地上部は枯れてしまいます。

DAFFODIL FLOWERING IN THE BLUEBELL GARDEN (ブルーベルの庭のラッパスイセン)


In the bluebell garden, daffodil is in bloom now.
Helleborus is also in full bloom.
Globe artichoke grows well, as well as Angelica japonica,
beside the iron-mesh arbour seat.

ブルーベルの庭ではラッパスイセンが咲いています.
クリスマスローズも満開です.
溶接金網製の屋根つきベンチの横では
グローブアーティチョークがハマウドと一緒に大きく育っています.

BEAUTIFUL FOLIAGE IN EARLY WINTER (初冬の美しい葉)


Most of the plants stop growing or shed their leaves in late autumn,
however, some plants grow young leaves in winter.
Their leaves look so fresh and beautiful.

ほとんどの植物は晩秋には成長を止め、あるいは葉を落としますが、
冬の間も新しい葉を茂らせるものもあります.
それらの葉はとてもみずみずしく美しく見えます.


Acanthus mollis grows in winter and bears flower spikes in May.
Its stems and leaves dies in Summer, and starts to grow in autumn again. 

Acanthus アカンサス
アカンサス・モリスは冬に成長して5月に花穂を伸ばします.
夏には地上部は枯れますが、秋にはまた成長を始めます.


Globe artichoke and Angelica show just the same life cycle pattern as Acanthus.

ANGELICA FLOWERS IN THE GARDEN (庭のハマウドの花)


Angelica japonica is a perennial growing to 1 m (3 feet), and its flower heads may grow to 2.5 m (8 feet) high.
It is native in Japan and is often found near seashores. 
The shape of its flower head is just like flowers of Apiaceae.

ハマウドは約1メートルの多年草で、その花穂は2.5mに及ぶこともあります
日本原産で、海辺にみられます
花穂の形はセリ科の花の形をしています





We grow angelica japonica beside the terraced herb beds. 
and it is in bloom now. 

うちではハーブの段々畑の横に育てていて
いま花を咲かせています

BLUEBELL GARDEN IN LATE AUTUMN (晩秋のブルーベルの庭)


In the bluebell garden beyond the iron rose arch beside the brick wall,
leaves of the cherry have already fallen
and the Japanese maple has turned its leaves orange-red.  

ブルーベルの庭はレンガ塀の横のバラのアーチの向こうにあり、
桜の葉はすでに散り、イロハモミジが紅葉しています.



At a plot where hundreds of English bluebell bulbs were planted two years ago,
we weeded and mulched with horse manure. 

2年前にイングリッシュ・ブルーベルの球根を数百個植えたところには
草取りをして馬糞でマルチングしました。



Seed pods of Hibiscus mutabilis split and seeds in the pods are scattered. 

フヨウの花柄のあとの実が割れて、中の種がこぼれ落ちています。



At the top of the garden, globe artichoke is growing 
with strawberry and Angelica japonica.

FLOWERS OF BORAGE & STUNNING LEAVES OF ANGELICA JAPONICA (ボリジの花とハマウドの美しい葉)


In terraced herb beds, borage has started to bloom blue flowers.  

ハーブの段々畑ではボリジが青い花を咲かせ始めました. 


Between the brick wall and herb beds, angelica japonica grows its leaves. 

レンガ塀とハーブ畑の間に、ハマウドの葉が大きく伸びています. 


Stems of leaves is dark red purple and leaves are glossy and fresh to pure green. 

葉の柄は濃い赤紫色で、光沢のある葉は黄緑から緑色
 Angelica is growing in the new garden, too, at the top left of the garden. 

新しい庭でも、一番上の左側にハマウドは育っています. 


You can see the contrast of leaf colours; 
angelica and artichoke.

BLUEBELL LEAVES ARE SPROUTING (ブルーベルの葉が伸びてきました)


Bluebell leaves are sprouting here and there in our garden; 
in the main garden, the new garden and the potager. 

ブルーベルの葉が庭のあちこちに伸びてきています.
メインガーデン、新しい庭、そしてポタジェ

Angelica japonica, the new member of our gardens, has been growing
throughout the winter season. 
Its large glossy leaves are so beautiful. 

庭のあたらしいメンバーになった植物、ハマウドは
冬の間もずっと成長していました
その大きな艶のある葉がとてもきれいです

Today I repainted the bench at the arbour of the new garden. 
We wish ivy grows well and cover the welded wire mesh arbour. 


新しい庭のアーバーのベンチを塗りなおしました
アイビーがどんどん大きくなって溶接金網のアーバーを覆ってくれるように願っています
