庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.
　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

HARVESTING JAPANESE APRICOT (梅を収穫しました)

 

Some of the fruits of the Japanese apricot in the bluebell garden have started to turn colour and fall, so I decided to pick them. Those within reach are easy to pick, but for the ones a little higher up, I pull the branches down to get them. I left the ones that were too high and difficult to reach, and didn’t pick them. The bluebells beneath the tree are starting to wither a little. The seed heads had dried out and the seeds had formed, so I collected those as well. Up above, the blue hydrangeas are in full bloom and look absolutely beautiful.


ブルーベルの庭にある梅の木の一部の実が少し色づいて落下し始めたので収穫することにしました。手の届くところは簡単に取れますが、少し高い所は枝を引っ張り下ろして実を取ります。高くて取るのがむずかしい場所はそのままにして収穫しませんでした。梅の木の下のブルーベルは葉が少し枯れ始めています。シードヘッドが枯れて種ができていたので種も取りました。上のほうでは青いアジサイが満開でとても綺麗です。

A GARDEN FILLED WITH SWEET SCENT OF GARDENIAS (クチナシの甘い香りが漂う庭)


The gardenia tree has begun to bloom in the Bluebell Garden. As you pass the bench in front of the brick wall and walk through the green archway into the Bluebell Garden, a sweet fragrance wafts through the air. The rain has left the leaves looking vibrant and fresh. The pure white petals gradually turn yellow before falling. In autumn, the tree bears fruit, which serves as a natural yellow food colouring. 

The Japanese apricot trees in the Bluebell Garden are bearing fruit and will soon be ready for harvesting. The quince fruits are also growing to about the size of plums (they will be harvested in late autumn). Further back and higher up, the hydrangeas are in full bloom.

クチナシの木はブルーベルの庭で花を咲かせ始めました。レンガ塀の前にあるベンチの前を抜けて、緑のアーチをくぐってブルーベルの庭に入ると甘い香りが漂っています。雨に濡れて葉が生き生きして見えます。真っ白な花びらは次第に黄色くなって落ちます。秋には実がついて、黄色の天然着色料となります。

ブルーベルの庭には梅が実をつけて、まもなく収穫です。カリンの実も梅の実ほどの大きさになってきています（収穫は晩秋です）。奥の上の方にはアジサイが満開になっています。

THE BLUEBELL GARDEN IN EARLY SPRING (早春のブルーベルガーデン)

 

In the bluebell garden, following the first white Japanese apricot blossoms (Kizannhaku), another variety 'Bungo-Ume'  has begun to bloom. The Bungo-Ume has a very fine fragrance and bears large fruit. The bluebells have also begun to sprout. Spring has truly arrived. And above the Bungo plum trees, the large, lush acacia (Acacia mollissima) is laden with countless flower buds, turning the entire tree a beautiful yellow-green. I look forward to its flowering.


ブルーベルの庭では最初に咲いた白梅（貴山白）に続いて、豊後梅が咲き始めました。豊後梅はとても良い香りで、大きな実をつけます。ブルーベルも芽吹き始めました。いよいよ春到来です。そして、豊後梅の上には大きく茂ったギンヨウアカシアが無数の花の蕾をつけて、木全体が美しい黄緑色になっています。開花が楽しみです。

JAPANESE APRICOT IS ALMOST IN FULL BLOOM (梅の花がほぼ満開になりました)

 

The plum blossoms that began blooming in mid-January are now nearing full bloom. Surrounded by bare trees, the plum trees stand out strikingly, their branches laden with clusters of white flowers. It is an early spring scene. Some petals have already begun to fall, and even on the ground where bluebells will bloom in spring, the white petals are conspicuous.


1月中旬に咲き始めた梅がそろそろ満開になっています。落葉した木々に囲まれて枝にたくさんの白い花がついている梅の木がとても目立ちます。早春の風景です。すでに少し花びらが散り始めていて、春にブルーベルの咲く地面でも白い花びらが目立っています。

JAPANESE APRICOT HAS STARTED TO BLOOM (梅が開花しました)

 

The white Japanese apricot blossoms in the bluebell garden have bloomed again this year. With the very warm weather we've had over the last few days, they seem to have burst into bloom all at once. Last year we harvested a great many fruits, but what will this year bring? The flowers should continue blooming until around early March. By then, the bluebells' new shoots will be stretching upwards, heralding the arrival of spring's dazzling season.


今年もブルーベルの庭の白梅が開花しました。ここ数日とても暖かい日が続いていたのでぱっとたくさん咲き始めたようです。昨年はたくさんの実を収穫できましたが、今年はどうでしょうか。花は3月初めごろまで咲き続けると思います。そのころにはブルーベルの新芽が伸びてきて、春のまぶしい季節がやってきます。

PALE PINK JAPANESE APRICOT (淡いピンクの梅の花)

 

In the bluebell garden, a little later than last month's white Japanese apricot (Kizanhaku), the pale pink Japanese apricot (Bungo Ume) came into blossom and is now in full bloom at once.


This Japanese apricot is also characterised by its good fragrance, so I cut two branches and arranged them as ikebana. The room is slightly fragrant.


ブルーベルの庭では、先月の白梅（貴山白）の開花から少し遅れて、淡いピンクの梅（豊後梅）が開花して、一気に満開となりました。

この梅は良い香りをもつのも特徴で、枝を2本ほど切って生け花にしました。部屋にほんのりと良い香りが漂っています。

WHITE FLOWERS OF JAPANESE APRICOT (白梅の花)

 

The white Japanese apricot in the Bluebell garden is starting to flower. This winter was colder than usual and the start of flowering was delayed. When the sun shines, they glow white in the sun. Fruits appear in early summer.


ブルーベルの庭の白梅に花が咲きだしています。今年の冬は例年より寒く、咲き始めが遅れていました。晴れると日を浴びて白く輝きます。初夏には実がつきます。

JAPANESE APRICOT HAS STARTED TO BLOOM (梅が咲き始めました)

 

Japanese apricot in the Bluebell garden has started to flower; a few flowers started to bloom about 10 years ago and many more are coming into bloom. The name of the apricot variety is Kizanhaku. The flowers can be enjoyed slowly from now until February, and the fruits are harvested and candied in June.


ブルーベルの庭の梅が咲き始めました。10ほど前に数輪開花し始めて、たくさん咲いてきています。梅の品種の名前は貴山白といいます。これから2月までゆっくり花を楽しめます。6月には実を収穫して砂糖漬けにしています。
