GARDEN VISIT: 'YOOM-TEI' (お庭訪問：遊夢庭)

 

We visited a private garden 'Yoom-tei' near the Ariake Sea today. 

This garden has been open to the public for 25 years, and is one of the member of Reiwa Open Garden, which our garden belongs to. 

The garden is a fairy tale world with a rural backdrop. 

It was a beautiful garden in a very peaceful setting, and it was really relaxing.

We really appreciate Ms. Narikiyo, the owner and the chief gardener. 

今日は有明海の近くの個人のガーデン「遊夢庭（ゆうむてい）」にお邪魔しました. 

この庭は25年から一般公開されていて、うちの庭も所属する令和オープンガーデンのメンバーです.

このお庭は田園風景を背景にした童話の世界です. 

ほんとうにのどかな風景のなかの美しい庭に、本当に癒されました.

ENGLISH VEGETABLE GARDEN AS A MODEL FOR OUR POTAGER (お手本にした英国の菜園)

 

Here's a look at one of Britain's most famous vegetable gardens, which was the model for our own.  We visited Barnsley House in Cirencester 9 years ago.  

我が家のポタジェのモデルとなったイギリスの有名な菜園の一つをご紹介しましょう. サイレンセスターにあるバーンズリーハウスを訪ねたのは9年前です. 

I had seen this garden in a book ’Gardens around the world; 365days' and had always wanted to visit it, so when I found a tour of British gardens including this one, I joined.　

一年の日めくり形式で世界の庭園を紹介する本で見て、是非一度は訪ねたいと思っていた菜園で、ここを含めてイギリスの庭園を回るツアーを見つけて参加しました。

I have learnt a lot from this kitchen garden and applied it to our own garden.  

この菜園からさまざまなことを学び、うちの庭に応用しました.

The entrance door of our garden was made exactly like this.
入り口の扉はこれとそっくりに作りました. 

Sometimes we put up scarecrows in the garden.
ときどきうちの庭にも案山子を立てます

Low box hedges have also been built in our garden. 
低いセイヨウツゲの生け垣はうちの庭にも作りました

We also grow colourful vegetables and flowers together in our potager. 
うちのポタジェでも、カラフルな野菜やお花を一緒に育てています.

OUR FIRST VISIT TO ENGLISH GARDENS PART 2 (初めての英国庭園訪問 その２)

On 8th June 2010, we visited two famous gardens in Cotswolds.
The first was Hidcote Manor Gardens.
There are many garden rooms,
each of which had a characteristic style.

2010年の6月8日、コッツウォルズの有名な二つのガーデンを訪ねました
最初はヒドコートマナーガーデンで、
いくつもの庭の部屋があり、
それぞれが個性的なスタイルを持っていました

We are fascinated by a quite different way of training from Japanese garden of wisteria.
日本の仕立ての仕方とまるっきり異なるフジの花にうっとり

Water lily in a large pool.  大きな池のスイレン
A few years after this, we started to grow water lily in a tiny bathtab pool.
この数年後、庭の小さなバスタブの池でスイレンを育て始めました

Then we walked beside a field of sheep to Kiftsgate Court Gardens.

We met the third landlady Anne Chambers at the entrance of the garden. 

それから羊のいる野原の横を歩いてキフツゲートコートガーデンに行きました

三代目の庭主のアン・チャンドラーさんに入り口で会いました

Some roses were in bloom.

これも素晴らしい景色

After visiting two gardens,
we took a foot-path walk from Upper Slaughter to Lower Slaughter.
We really enjoyed it, looking at many beautiful landscapes.

二つの庭を訪ねたあと、
アッパースローターからローワースローターまで
フットパスを歩きました
たくさんの美しい風景を見ながらとても楽しい散歩でした

We were really influenced by everything we looked at in gardens we visited.
We started to make an English-style garden immediately after
we came back to home. 

訪れた庭で見たものすべてに大きく影響されました
そして、帰国してすぐに
英国庭園風の庭づくりを始めたのです.
