ELECTRIC FENCE FOR PREVENTING BLUEBERRY DAMAGE BY BADGERS (電気柵でアナグマによるブルーベリーの被害防止)
We have been picking blueberries every weekend this month and making jam .
今月は毎週末にブルーベリーの収穫をして、ジャムを作っています.
Badgers that live nearby sometimes enter our garden and dig up a bit of soil in search of food, and since the blueberries started to ripen, they have been breaking branches off the blueberries. So, for the first time in several years, we put up an electric fence around the blueberries. There has been no damage since it was installed.
近くに住んでいるアナグマが時々うちの庭に入って餌を探して土を少し掘り返したりしていますが、ブルーベリーが熟し始めてから、ブルーベリーの枝を折るなどの被害が出てきていました. そこで数年ぶりにブルーベリーの周りに電気柵を設置しました. 設置してからは被害はありません.

BADGERS AND MULBERRIES (アナグマと桑の実)
Fruits of mulberry are ready to harvest now.
The tree has grown large in an empty plot in our neighbourhood.
今、桑の実の収穫時期になっています.
近所の空き地に桑の木が大きくなっています.
When we walked to the plot in the morning,
two badgers and a crow was eating mulberries on the road.
The crow flew away at once , however, one of the two badgers
didn't run away and looked at us at the entrance of an underground ditch.
朝、空き地に歩いていくと、
2匹のアナグマと一羽のカラスが路上で桑の実を食べていました.
カラスはすぐに飛び去りましたが、2匹のアナグマのうちの1匹は逃げずに
側溝の入り口で私たちを見ていました.
We harvested mulberries by shaking the tree branches
by using bamboo pole.
You can look at the badger in this photo (bottom right).
木の枝を竹竿で揺らして収穫です.
この写真にアナグマも写っています（右下隅）.
We laid a sheet and fruits fell onto it.
シートを敷いておいて、その上に実が落ちます.
We ate them raw, and they tasted quite good.
生で頂きましたが、とてもおいしかったです.

BLUEBERRIES & BADGER
This morning we harvested blueberries. We expect a total harvest of more than 12 kg this summer.
It is extremely hot and humid during the blueberry season, and harvesting is very tough.
I found a broken branch, and footprints of an animal. Every summer badgers come to our blueberry garden, and break branches and eat blueberries.
I have set an electric fence system around the blueberry trees. This is very effective from my experience of these three years.
In addition to the electric fence, I have covered the blueberry trees with net to prevent fruits from eating damage by birds.
Those are sufficient countermeasures against badgers and birds, I hope....
