My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.
I knew a storm was coming from the sound of rain and wind battering the windows since early this morning. Looking outside, I could see the branches of the wild cherry tree swaying violently in the strong wind. It looks as though this will be the end of the wild cherry blossoms, which had already begun to shed their petals.
Due to the record low rainfall this autumn and winter, water supply restrictions have begun in our region, affecting vegetable growth. Amidst this, we finally had our first substantial rainfall of the winter. The small conical rain gauge filled to capacity, and the large cylindrical gauge showed over 60 millimetres of rain. The garden is refreshed, and the spring onions and cabbages in the potager seem to be growing a little better. At the top of the herb terraces, I planted Japanese spiraea seedlings. It's a variety with golden foliage. I hear it blooms with red flowers in early summer. I'm looking forward to it.
The rain that began falling the day before yesterday morning has now entered its third day.
It has been falling heavily at times, and by this afternoon, the rain gauge was overflowing. It appears that approximately 200 millimetres of rain has already fallen.
A series of rainbands, which are bands of rain clouds that bring heavy rain, have been forming one after another, and some areas in northern Kyushu have experienced record-breaking rainfall, resulting in landslides and other disasters. We hope the rain will stop soon, but it is expected to continue until tomorrow. All we can do is pray that no further disasters occur.
During a break in the rain, I visited the Potager Garden and noticed some flooding. We are being battered by extreme weather conditions, including an early end to the rainy season, record-breaking high temperatures, and such severe heavy rain.

After the last rain 17 days ago, it has been hot and sunny for a long time, but for the first time in a long time, rain clouds arrived early in the morning and it rained, albeit very slightly. Cloudy and rainy days are expected to continue later this week. In some areas, the low rainfall is beginning to affect rice and vegetable production, so we hope for sufficient rainfall soon.
There was a heavy thunderstorm yesterday evening, a blessing after two weeks without any rain at all and the soil had dried out after many hot days.
June is almost over and the hydrangea flowers are almost finished, so I floated a few cut flowers in a small fountain.

It has been raining, but there are a lot of passion flowers in bloom. The flowers wilt in a day, so it changes every day. On days when the number of flowers is low, only one or two bloom. The flowers are firm and do not lose their shape in the rain.
