THE KITCHEN GARDEN AT THE END OF WINTER (冬の終わりのポタジェ)

It was a gorgeous day today; sunny and warm.
Broccoli has been producing in the potager for three months,
however, spring is just around the corner.
So, we must prepare for the next season.

今日は晴れて暖かく、ゴージャスな日和でした.
ブロッコリーはっまだ芽が育っていて、もう3ヶ月も続いています.
でも、春はすぐそこ、
次のシーズンに向けて準備しなくては・・

Some foxgloves are in bloom.
ジギタリスの花が少し咲いています.

We are eating brussels sprouts and red cabbage.
メキャベツと赤キャベツはいま食べているところです.

One pentagonal bed (kohlrabi and parsnip are over) is empty.
一つの区画（コールラビとパースニップは終わり）は空になりました. 

I planted nasturtium seedlings in the square bed.  

I saw seeds in cells after the coldest day in 30 years at the end of January when nasturtium had been damaged.  

四角い区画にナスタチウムの苗を植えました.

30年ぶりの寒さでナスタチウムが駄目になったので、種をまいていたのです.

I moved two cold frame from pentagonal asparagus beds where poppies are now growing 

to other pentagonal beds where winter vegetables had been planted.  

Well grown poppies look so springlike.  

ポピーが育ってきているアスパラガスの五角形の区画から

冬野菜が育っていた区画へコールドフレームを移動しました. 

良く育ったポピーはとても春らしくみえます.

ALL KINDS OF WEATHER ON THE LAST SATURDAY OF FEBRUARY (めまぐるしく変わる今日の天気)

We've had all kinds of weather today.  

In the morning (the weather was acceptable), we dug up two shrub roses and a camellia, 

and made a base of a garden item that I am planning to make by ourselves. 

今日はめまぐるしく変わる天気でした. 

午前中はまずまずの天気で、木立性バラ2本と椿を掘り出しましたあと、

自作予定の庭のアイテムの基礎を作りました.

A small camellia tree was also dug up and replanted to a plot behind the white fence.　
小さな椿の木も掘り上げ、白いフェンスの向こうに植えました.

At noon, it thundered suddenly, and then there was heavy rain with small hail.  

Ｉ covered the base with curing sheet in a hurry.  

お昼に急に雷が鳴り、小さな雹を伴う激しい雨が降り

急いで基礎を養生シートでおおいました.

It became partly sunny two hours later, and we went down to the garden 

and stated pruning and training of roses on the arches.  

2時間後、少し晴れてきたので庭に下りて

アーチのバラの剪定と誘引を始めました.

However, it began to rain again, and we couldn't finish pruning.  

しかし、また雨が降りだして、剪定は今日は終わりませんでした.

PRUNING PLUM TREES

After harvesting plums, we had pruned the trees for the next year.
It is because vigorous shoots have been growing and the tree is becoming too big.

By using a telescopic pruning lopper, many vertical shoots had been cut, and there left a pile of shoots to cut into pieces.

We had sore muscles of shoulder and arm next day:-)
