Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

WARM RAIN NURTURES GREENERY (緑を育む暖かい雨)

March has brought warmer temperatures. The warm rain has been a blessing for the greenery in the garden.

三月に入って気温が上がってきました. 暖かい雨が庭の緑を育む恵みの雨になっています.

Bluebells are sprouting en masse in the bluebell garden . Along with the bluebells, Allium triquetrum has been leafing out all winter.

ブルーベルの庭ではブルーベルが一斉に芽吹いてきています. ブルーベルと一緒に白い花をつけるミツカドネギは冬の間ずっと葉を茂らせていました.

Butterbur sprouts are emerging at the base of the Japanese apricot. This is a popular wild plant that heralds early spring.

Japanese apricot blossoms are almost finished and are shedding their petals over the bluebells and butterbur.

梅の木の根元にはフキノトウが出てきています. 早春を告げる人気のある山菜です.

梅の花はそろそろ終わりで、ブルーベルやフキノトウの上に花びらを散らしています.

DAFFODIL FLOWERING IN THE BLUEBELL GARDEN (ブルーベルの庭のラッパスイセン)

In the bluebell garden, daffodil is in bloom now.
Helleborus is also in full bloom.
Globe artichoke grows well, as well as Angelica japonica,
beside the iron-mesh arbour seat.

ブルーベルの庭ではラッパスイセンが咲いています.
クリスマスローズも満開です.
溶接金網製の屋根つきベンチの横では
グローブアーティチョークがハマウドと一緒に大きく育っています.
