SUNCHOKE FLOWER (キクイモの花)
A huge typhoon Hagibis (19th of 2019) is coming from the south,
and its wind is becoming strong in our area.
Jerusalem artichoke is flowering at the height of ten feet in our garden.

The artichoke survived two typhoon attacks.
巨大な台風19号が南からやってきていて
風もうちのあたりでも風が強まってきています.
キクイモは3メートルの高さで咲いています.
二つの台風にも耐えました.
I cut the artichoke flowers using a telescopic tree pruner
and arranged them in a vase.

HYDRANGEA AND ROSE (アジサイとバラ)
Now is a season of hydrangea.
It looks much beautiful in the rain, however,
we have little rain fall although the rainy season has come.
アジサイの季節です
雨の中で美しく見えるアジサイですが
梅雨に入ったのにほとんど雨が降っていません
Today we arranged flowers of hydrangea and rose,
which is our annual event since 2014.
今日はアジサイとバラでフラワーアレンジをしました
2014年からの恒例行事です
Hydrangea is in full bloom in our garden;
at the entrance of garden, and in the new garden.
Most of flowers are blue,
and others are purple and purple-pink.

庭ではアジサイは満開です
庭の入り口や新しい庭で
ほとんどは青い色ですが、紫や赤紫もあります
We use orange and yellow roses this year;
Rosa 'Parisienne’ and 'Apolo'.
They are complementary colours of blue and purple.

In the kitchen garden the same colour combination can be seen now.
Orange California popy and blue phacelia (green manure).
I sowed seeds in February and planted their seedlings in spring.
Those seeds are souvenir of trip to UK last year.

This morning・・・
My wife has made a Marie Antoinette-style flower arrangement. It is basically arranged by only rose flowers (i.e. without leaves).
Before arranging, she re-watched the TV programme "Super Flower Lesson by Catherine Muller" broadcasted on NHK in 2011.
This morning we harvested potatoes in the kitchen garden, that was more than we expected.

Still blooming・・・
Some kind of roses are still blooming, and we are enjoying them as cut flowers.
They include 'Francois Juranville', 'Iceberg', 'Leonardo da Vinci', 'Scarborough Fair', etc., but the most glorious rose for cut flower is 'Pierre De Ronsard' (shown below).
