Today was really hot day, too. We woke up early in the morning, and harvested blueberries. In summer, we harvest them every weekend. After that, we went to a riding club 10 minutes drive from our house and got two dozen bags of manure (We mainly use it for mulching roses).

In the afternoon, we went to the center of Fukuoka City, and watched the movie released today. The movie is 'The Emperor in August' (The Japanese title is 'The longest day in Japan'). Most of the audience were elderly people. Seventy years have passed since the World War II was over, and many people in the world is reconsidering it. I do really acknowledged that it is much easy to enter upon a war, but that it is quite difficult to terminate the war. Marple said that a quarrel is the same as it.
The following explanation is a quotation from the home page of the movie company SHOCHIKU.
"The War ended on August 15th, 1945. What took place in Japan on the previous night? The unknown destiny of the day is unveiled.
On August 14th, 1945, at an Imperial conference, the Showa Emperor, Hirohito, finally decided to accept the Potsdam Declaration. However, some young firebrand Army officers insisted on continuing the war and conspired to launch a coup. Anami, the Minister of War, was pressed to make an extremely difficult decision.."
（お昼からは、福岡市の中心部に行って今日封切りの映画を見ました。「日本のいちばん長い日」（英語タイトルは「八月の天皇」）という映画です。観客の大半は年配の人たちでした。第二次世界大戦の終結から70年が経過し、世界の多くの人々があの戦争を再考しています。戦争は始めるのは比較的たやすいが、終結させるのはとても難しいということを、改めて強く思いました。家内は喧嘩も一緒よねと言っていました。

After the movie, we went to Hotel Okura Fukuoka. We had reserved its lounge and bar Hakatagawa for afternoon tea. We enjoyed it, especially French toast. The Hotel Okura is said to be “the home of the most delicious French toast in the world.” We also enjoyed delicious cakes and nice tea.

6 Eggs, 370cc milk, 62g sugar, Vanilla essence, Bread (4cm thick)
Mix eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla essence
Sop the bread into the mixture for 24 hours (12 hours one side)
Cook it on a pan with butter (on moderate heat with lid closed) for 15 min.
