I pruned the wisteria trained along the back of the brick wall this winter. Though I'd pruned it twice over the summer, the branches had grown quite a bit again. This pruning will be the last. Now all that remains is to wait for it to flower in April.
レンガ塀の裏側に誘引しているフジの冬の剪定をしました。夏に２回ほど剪定していましたが、また枝がかなり伸びていました。今回の剪定が最後です。あとは４月に花が咲いてくれるのを待つだけです。
I stopped growing roses on the brick wall and instead trained wisteria to grow there. It bloomed beautifully in the spring of the year before last, but due to the vigorous growth of the wisteria, pruning at high altitudes was very difficult, so I re-trained it to grow on the wall behind the brick wall. However, the growth of the vines that I re-trained last year and this year was insufficient, so no flowers bloomed.
レンガ塀の上のバラをやめてフジを誘引し、一昨年の春に綺麗に咲いてくれましたが、フジの旺盛な成長力で高所での選定作業が大変なので、レンガ塀の裏の壁面に誘引をやりなおしました。昨年も今年も誘引し直したツルの成長が不十分で花は咲きませんでした。

Currently, wisteria flowers are blooming in several locations. It seems they may rebloom in summer as well.
Pruning will be performed again next month, with a final round planned for winter.
そして今、何カ所かでフジの花が咲いています。夏にも花が返り咲くことはあるようです。
剪定は来月にもう一度行い、最後に冬にもう一度行う予定です。
The Kurume azaleas in the garden are in beautiful bloom. They are in a row on the right side of the main garden. The pinks and reds are in full bloom, but the whites are still a little behind with many buds.
The wisteria that was trained to the back of the brick wall has finally sprouted. It has just been cut short and re-trained, so it is unlikely to flower this spring.
庭のクルメツツジがきれいに咲いています。メインガーデンの右側に一列に並んでいます。ピンクや赤は満開になっていますが、白はまだつぼみが多くて少し遅れています。
レンガ塀の裏側に誘引したフジがやっと芽吹いてきました。短く切って誘引をやり直したばかりなので、この春は花は咲かないようです。
In summer, there is pruning work to be done on fruit and flowering trees. This time we pruned pears. This is the pruning of new branches that have emerged this year from horizontally trained branches. Cut them short, leaving a few buds. As the trees are on the slope of the Bluebell garden, I used a telescoping tree pruner to cut them from the arbour seat above.
夏には果樹や花木の剪定作業があります。今回は洋ナシの剪定をしました。水平方向に誘引した枝から今年出た新枝の剪定です。数個の芽を残して短く切ります。ブルーベルの庭の斜面にあるので、上の屋根付きベンチの所から高枝鋏を使って切りました。

Wisteria is a fascinating plant with beautiful flowers in late April. In Japan, they are usually planted on wisteria trellises, but on a trip to the UK I saw them planted on walls. So, a few years ago, I planted a potted Japanese wisteria in the ground and trained it to the top of a brick wall. And this year it bloomed beautifully.
However, it was very vigorous and grew in all directions, making it very difficult to manage, especially when pruning the high branches, which can be dangerous, so we decided to remove the wisteria over the brick wall and train it behind the brick wall for our own sustainability.
It took a whole day in very hot weather to remove the wisteria. The rebar that was used as a scaffold for the training will be removed in the near future.
フジは四月の下旬に美しい花を咲かせる魅力的な植物です. 日本では藤棚に仕立てるのが一般的ですが、イギリス旅行では壁面への誘引を目にしました. それで、数年前に鉢植えで楽しんでいたフジを地植えにしてレンガ塀の上の方に誘引したのです. そして今年とても美しく咲いてくれました.
しかし、その成長は極めて旺盛で、あらゆる方向にたくさんの枝を伸ばしていくために、管理が大変で、特に高い位置の枝の剪定などは危険も伴うため、私達の持続可能性も考慮して、レンガ塀の上方の藤は撤去して、レンガ塀の裏側に誘引する方針にしました.
とても暑い中、一日がかりで撤去しました. 誘引の足場として利用していた鉄筋も近いうちに撤去する予定にしています.

It's the middle of summer and it's been so hot that I haven't been able to do much work in the garden, so the garden has been mostly neglected, but there are blue and purple flowers everywhere in the main garden.
I went out in the evening when the sun was shading the garden and took these photos and movies.
夏の真っただ中で厳しい暑さが続いていて、庭仕事もあまりできないので、ほとんど庭は放置状態ですが、主庭ではブルーやパープルの花があちこちで咲いています.
日が傾いて庭が日陰になった夕方に庭に出て写真や動画を撮影しました.
