I often found the word 'seaweed fertiliser' in English gardening books
(such as those written by Jeoff Hamilton)
and English gardening mazazines (such as Gardeners' World).
It is said that seaweed is a wonderful fertilizer and soil conditioner
containing many minerals and trace elements
that may help round out the nutrient profile of soil and plants grown in it.
I've never heard the seaweed fertilizer, especially liquid type fertiliser, in Japan
and I decided to make it once by myself.
Yesterday morning, it was a bit rainy,
I and my wife Marple went to seashore close to our house.
We found seaweed washed up on the shore and picked it up in a bucket.

私は海草の肥料、特に液肥は聞いたことがありませんでしたので、
自分で一度作ってみようと決心しました.
昨日の朝ちょっと雨模様でしたが、
私は家内のマープルと一緒に近くの海岸に出かけました.
波打ち際に打ち上げられた海草を見つけて拾い、バケツに入れました.
We brought it back to home, and filled the bucket with water and put the lid on it.
家に帰ってからバケツに水を入れて蓋をしました.

that it may take just 2-3 weeks in the warmer months to break down into liquid fertilizer.
Until then, I must stir the contents from time to time (once a week or two).
あるウェブページに、海草は分解して液肥になるのに暖かい季節だと２～３週間
と書いてありました.
その時まで、時々（週に１，２回）かき混ぜなくてはいけません.

It was so fine and nice day today,
and I spend all day in our garden, planting flower and vegetable seedlings, weeding,
listening music and reading a new book and magazine.
A new magazine is a April 2016 issue of Gardeners' World,
which has a supplement of tomato (Super Sweet 100) seeds.
It's fun to sow seeds and grow tomato.
A new book is 'Beautiful natural gardens
- Leaning from naturalism-style gardeners at the foot of Mt Yatsugatake'
published last week. This book was recommended in my favorite blog.
I read this book without resting because there were so beautiful pictures of gardens,
and interesting stories of making gardens by themselves.
I recommend this book.
今日は晴れてとてもいい日で
花や野菜苗の植え付けや草取りをし、音楽を聞き、新しい雑誌や本を読んで
一日庭で過ごしました.
新しい雑誌は4月号のガーデナーズ・ワールドです.
トマトの種の付録つき
トマトを種から育てるのは楽しみです.
新しい本は「美しきナチュラルガーデン 八ヶ岳山麓の自然派ガーデナーに学ぶ」
で、先週の発売です. この本は私の好きなブログで紹介されていました.
この本は一気に読んでしまいましたが、それは庭の写真がとても美しく、
自分たちで庭を作った話がとても興味深かったためです.
私もこの本をお勧めします.
