BUMBLEBEES LOVE FLOWERS OF ECHIUM CANDICANS (ハナバチたちはエキウムカンディカンスの花がお好き)
The flowers of the Echium candicans growing here and there in our gardens started to bloom about a week ago. Numerous small blue-purple flowers in spindle-shaped spikes bloom for two or three weeks, and the spikes grow in size accordingly.
庭のあちこちで育てているエキウムカンディカンスの花は一週間ほど前から咲き始めました. 紡錘形の花穂に無数の青紫の小花が咲いて、２、３週間咲き続けて、花穂もそれに伴って大きくなります.

On a sunny day, bees can be seen all the time sucking nectar from the flowers. Apart from honeybees, bumblebees such as Xylocopa appendiculata and Bombus ignitus are frequent visitors.
お天気のよい日には、ハナバチたちがずっと花の蜜を吸って花から花へ忙しく飛び回ります. ミツバチの他に、クマバチやクロマルハナバチなどのハナバチ類が良く来ています.

HEART-SHAPED APPLE BRANCHES WITH FLOWERS (ハート形のリンゴの枝に花が咲きました)
The Potager's espalier apple trees have two varieties, planted alternately. The early-flowering 'Alps Otome' has finished flowering, but the late-flowering 'Fuji' is now in bloom.
The apple variety with heart- or lollipop-shaped branches is Fuji, and these are flowering.
Bumblebees come here to pollinate the flowers.
ポタジェのエスパリエ仕立てのリンゴの木には2品種あって、交互に植えています. 早咲きの「アルプス乙女」の花は終わりましたが、遅咲きの「フジ」が今咲いています.
枝をハート形やロリポップ仕立てにしているリンゴの品種はフジで、それらの仕立ての枝に花が咲いています.
ここにもハナバチが来て受粉をしてくれています.

BEES VISITING BLUEBELL FLOWERS BEGINNING TO BLOOM (咲き始めたブルーベルの花に来ているミツバチたち)
Bluebells are now in bloom in the bluebell garden. Bluebell flowers are bell-shaped, with the buds pointing upwards and then downwards as the flowers open.
The characteristic white stamens of English bluebells are clearly visible when pointing slightly upwards.
The weather has been warm and mild, and bees have been visiting here too. They are busily flitting from flower to flower, proboscis outstretched, sucking nectar. Their legs are covered with pollen and appear yellow and swollen.
ブルーベルの庭では今、ブルーベルが咲き進んでいます. ブルーベルの花は釣鐘型ですが、蕾は上を向いていて、花が開くにつれて下を向いていきます.
イングリッシュブルーベルの特徴である白い雄しべが少し上を向いているときはよく見えます.
暖かくて穏やかな天気で、ミツバチたちがここにもやってきています. 口吻を伸ばしたまま、忙しく花から花へ飛び回って蜜を吸っています. 脚には花粉がついて、黄色く膨れて見えます.

LIGHT BLUE AGAPANTHUS (アガパンサスの水色の花)
The agapanthus in the blue border is now in full bloom.
Agapanthus is a bulbous, evergreen plant that produces light blue flowers in our garden in June.
Bombus ardens (little yellow bumblebee) and Macroglossum pyrrhosticta (hawk moth) were sucking nectar of agapanthus flowers.
After the agapanthus blooms, it's the turn of the chaste tree to bloom in July.
青の花壇のアガパンサスが満開になってきました.
アガパンサスは球根性の常緑の植物で、私たちの庭では六月に水色の花を咲かせます.
コマルハナバチとスズメガ (ホシホウジャク)が花の蜜を吸っていました.
アガパンサスが満開になると、つぎは七月に咲くセイヨウニンジンボクの番です.

PEONY HAS STARTED TO FLOWER (芍薬が咲き始めました)
Peonies are grown in a special flower bed. Some peonies are grown in pots.
シャクヤクは専用の花壇で育てています. 鉢で育てているシャクヤクもあります.
'Bowl of Beauty' is a variety that I saw in a garden in England and fell in love with at first sight. It is a very beautiful peony with lovely cup blooms, wonderful pink petals and pale yellow stamens.
ボウルオブビューティーはイギリスの庭でみて一目で好きになった品種です. カップ咲の姿が可愛らしく、素晴らしいピンクの花びらと淡い黄色のしべがとても美しいシャクヤクです.
'Rouge Speckled Jade' is a 'Okina-zaki' type peony.
In this type, the petalization of the stamens is not as advanced as in double flowers.
It's an unusual flower, and it looks gorgeous.
ルージュスペックロドジェードは「翁咲き」のシャクヤクです.
このタイプでは雄しべの花弁化が八重咲きほど進行していないのです.
変わった花姿から、とてもゴージャスに見えます.
The last one is a peony that seems to be 'Unkai'.
This is a single peony that has grown up after the old tree peony died.
（Maybe it's a rootstock.）
A bumlebee was frenziedly moving around inside the stamen.

最後は「雲外」と思われるシャクヤクです.
一重のシャクヤクで、古いボタンが枯れたあとから育ってきました.

BUMBLEBEES FLITTING AROUND ECHIUM FLOWERS (エキウムに飛び回るハナバチ)
The garden is full of all kinds of flowers, and the bumblebees' wings are buzzing all the time. Their particular favorites are Echium candicans and borage, and whenever I see them, they are always there.
庭はいろんな花が咲いていて、ハナバチたちの羽音がずっと響いています. 彼らの特にお気に入りはエキウムカンディカンスとボリジで、いつみても彼らが必ずいます.
