GAURA AND RUELLIA (ガウラとルエリア)

 

The hot summer continues, but at the potager garden, gaura and ruelia are now blooming by the entrance. The gaura bears numerous white flowers, their appearance resembling a swarm of tiny white butterflies in flight. The ruelia's blue flowers glow a deep blue-purple as they catch the morning sun. We hope the cool autumn arrives soon.

暑い夏が続いていますが、ポタジェガーデンでは今ガウラとルエリアが入り口で咲いています。ガウラはたくさんの白い花が咲いていますが、その姿は小さな白い蝶たちが飛んでいるように見えます。ルエリアは青い花が朝日をあびて青紫色に輝きます。早く涼しい秋が来てほしいものです。

POTAGER GARDEN IN THE MORNING SUN (朝日さすポタジェガーデン)

 

Early mornings are cooler than in mid-summer. The morning sun shines on the potager from sunrise. The garden looks glorious in the morning sun. In September, vegetables such as peppers and asparagus grow in the potager, and in addition to red roses and dwarf sunflowers, gaura and ruellia are in bloom.

早朝は真夏より涼しくなってきています。ポタジェには日の出から朝日が射してきます。朝日に照らされた庭は輝いて見えます。九月のポタジェはトウガラシやアスパラガスなどの野菜のほか、赤いバラや矮性のヒマワリに加えて、ガウラやルエリアが咲いています。

GAURA FLOWERS LOOK LIKE TINY WHITE BUTTERFLIES (小さな白い蝶が舞うようなガウラの花)

White flowers of gaura glisten in the morning sun. 

It is also called White Butterfly Flower in Japanese. 

Four petals of the flower look like butterfly wings. 

ガウラの白い花が朝日で輝いています. 

和名では白蝶草とも呼ばれます. 

花びらが4枚で、蝶の羽のようにも見えますね.

IN THE MORNING OF SEPTEMBER (九月の朝)

 

The weather has cooled down a bit since the beginning of September, but there are still many cloudy days and the garden is still damp. 

In the central flower bed, gaura, cleome and potato vine are in bloom. The potted coleus is also beautiful with its blue flowers. 

There is a lot of work to be done in the garden, but I'm thinking of starting it in earnest when the weather gets a little cooler. 

九月に入って少し涼しくなりましたが、まだ曇りの日が多くて庭は湿っています. 

中央花壇では、ガウラやクレオメ、ツルハナナスが咲いています. 鉢植えのコリウスも青い花をつけて綺麗です. 

いろいろ庭仕事は溜まっていますが、もう少し涼しくなってから本格的に始めようかと思っています.

CHASTE TREE IS BLOOMING (セイヨウニンジンボク開花）

 

It was in 2013 that I planted the blue flower bed with the chaste tree. It's already been eight years, and it's getting stronger. I cut it down to about 50 cm from the ground every fall, but it grows its branches in early summer and produces cool light blue flowers in summer.

ブルーの花壇にセイヨウニンジンボクを植えたのは2013年で、すでに8年経って、勢いが強くなっています。毎年秋には地面から50センチメートルぐらいに切り詰めますが、初夏に枝をグングン伸ばして、夏に水色の涼しげな花を咲かせます。

The year before last, we planted a seedling of the chaste tree in the center of the central flower bed. Last year it grew much bigger and produced a few flowers, and this year it is getting even bigger. The variety is a little different and the flowers look a little different.

一昨年には中央花壇の中央にセイヨウニンジンボクの苗を植え付けました。昨年はだいぶん大きくなって花を咲かせ、今年はさらに大きくなってきています。少し品種が異なり、花の感じが少し違います。
