From the balcony jutting out over the potager, which lies one level below the main garden, you can see not only the potager below but also the bluebell garden and the brick wall of the main garden. Whilst some plants are withering in the garden due to the persistent heatwave and drought, there are also plenty that are thriving.
メインガーデンから一段下にあるポタジェへ張り出すバルコニーからは下のポタジェだけでなく、ブルーベルの庭やメインガーデンのレンガ塀も見えます。猛暑と干ばつが続く庭では枯れる植物もありますが、元気で育っている植物もたくさんあります。
The roses in the border of the potager are in bloom. One is a single-petalled pink rose called ‘Dainty Beth’. The other is a rose called ‘Tiffany’, which is also pink and has a wonderful fragrance. I’ve been growing them for quite some time now; although they’ve lost some vigour and don’t produce many flowers, they do occasionally rebloom from May right through to autumn.
ポタジェのボーダーのバラに花が咲いています。一つはデンティーベスという一重のピンクのバラです。そしてもう一つはやはりピンクの香りが素晴らしいティファニーというバラです。ずいぶん長く育てていますが樹勢が弱って花数は多くありませんが、5月に咲いた後も秋まで時々返り咲きします。

The tiger lilies are also in bloom, attracting not white butterflies but large black ones that come to feed on their nectar.
厳しい暑さの中でも頑張って咲いている花たちです。
The hot summer continues, but at the potager garden, gaura and ruelia are now blooming by the entrance. The gaura bears numerous white flowers, their appearance resembling a swarm of tiny white butterflies in flight. The ruelia's blue flowers glow a deep blue-purple as they catch the morning sun. We hope the cool autumn arrives soon.
暑い夏が続いていますが、ポタジェガーデンでは今ガウラとルエリアが入り口で咲いています。ガウラはたくさんの白い花が咲いていますが、その姿は小さな白い蝶たちが飛んでいるように見えます。ルエリアは青い花が朝日をあびて青紫色に輝きます。早く涼しい秋が来てほしいものです。

Early mornings are cooler than in mid-summer. The morning sun shines on the potager from sunrise. The garden looks glorious in the morning sun. In September, vegetables such as peppers and asparagus grow in the potager, and in addition to red roses and dwarf sunflowers, gaura and ruellia are in bloom.
早朝は真夏より涼しくなってきています。ポタジェには日の出から朝日が射してきます。朝日に照らされた庭は輝いて見えます。九月のポタジェはトウガラシやアスパラガスなどの野菜のほか、赤いバラや矮性のヒマワリに加えて、ガウラやルエリアが咲いています。

White flowers of gaura glisten in the morning sun.
It is also called White Butterfly Flower in Japanese.
Four petals of the flower look like butterfly wings.
ガウラの白い花が朝日で輝いています.
和名では白蝶草とも呼ばれます.
花びらが4枚で、蝶の羽のようにも見えますね.
The weather has cooled down a bit since the beginning of September, but there are still many cloudy days and the garden is still damp.
In the central flower bed, gaura, cleome and potato vine are in bloom. The potted coleus is also beautiful with its blue flowers.
There is a lot of work to be done in the garden, but I'm thinking of starting it in earnest when the weather gets a little cooler.
九月に入って少し涼しくなりましたが、まだ曇りの日が多くて庭は湿っています.
中央花壇では、ガウラやクレオメ、ツルハナナスが咲いています. 鉢植えのコリウスも青い花をつけて綺麗です.
いろいろ庭仕事は溜まっていますが、もう少し涼しくなってから本格的に始めようかと思っています.
