FOGGY MORNING (霧の朝)

It was foggy and dark this morning when we took a walk in our neighbourhood. 

We seldom have fog, and everything looked different. 

From the top of the hill, we couldn't see Mt. Kaya or Itoshima Fuji.  

We walked down the road and we enjoyed the mysterious views.  

今日の朝、近所を散歩するとき、霧がたちこめ暗い朝でした.
めったに霧はでませんが、すべてが変わって見えます.

岡の頂上からは可也山（糸島富士）が見えません.

岡を下りながら、ちょっと神秘的な景色を楽しみました.

New light green leaves of the box hedge are becoming beautiful, and Thunberg's meadowsweet are bearing white flowers again in our kitchen garden. 

ポタジェではボックスヘッジの明るい緑いろの新緑が美しく、
ユキヤナギの白い花も再び咲いています.

In two triangular beds, we planted tomatoes last Saturday after digging up broccoli.  

Red cabbages and brussels sprouts are still growing in the cold frame.


二つの三角形の区画にはブロッコリーを抜いて、ジャガイモを植えました.
赤キャベツや芽キャベツがまだコールドフレームでは育っています.

THE KITCHEN GARDEN AT THE END OF WINTER (冬の終わりのポタジェ)

It was a gorgeous day today; sunny and warm.
Broccoli has been producing in the potager for three months,
however, spring is just around the corner.
So, we must prepare for the next season.

今日は晴れて暖かく、ゴージャスな日和でした.
ブロッコリーはっまだ芽が育っていて、もう3ヶ月も続いています.
でも、春はすぐそこ、
次のシーズンに向けて準備しなくては・・

Some foxgloves are in bloom.
ジギタリスの花が少し咲いています.

We are eating brussels sprouts and red cabbage.
メキャベツと赤キャベツはいま食べているところです.

One pentagonal bed (kohlrabi and parsnip are over) is empty.
一つの区画（コールラビとパースニップは終わり）は空になりました. 

I planted nasturtium seedlings in the square bed.  

I saw seeds in cells after the coldest day in 30 years at the end of January when nasturtium had been damaged.  

四角い区画にナスタチウムの苗を植えました.

30年ぶりの寒さでナスタチウムが駄目になったので、種をまいていたのです.

I moved two cold frame from pentagonal asparagus beds where poppies are now growing 

to other pentagonal beds where winter vegetables had been planted.  

Well grown poppies look so springlike.  

ポピーが育ってきているアスパラガスの五角形の区画から

冬野菜が育っていた区画へコールドフレームを移動しました. 

良く育ったポピーはとても春らしくみえます.

PARSNIP IN THE POTAGER (ポタジェのパースニップ)

It was sunny and milder today.

We harvested parsnips in the potager. 

We sowed many seeds last April in the pentagonal bed, 

and only a few germinated.  

Nine months is a long time, but it tasted good in a potage soup this evening.  

今日は晴れて穏やかな天気、

ポタジェでパースニップの収穫です. 

去年の四月に五角形の区画に種をたくさんまきましたが

発芽したのはわずか数個でした.

それから九ヶ月は長かったけど、夕食のポタージュスープでとっても美味しかった！

Broccoli and brussel sprouts are still producing, and we sometimes pick them.  

ブロッコリとメキャベツはまだ生産していて、ときどき収穫しています.

Nasturtium was damaged by the severe cold last weekend.  

ナスタチウムは先週末のひどい寒さでやられました.

Today's job was repairing steps between blueberry and lemon. 

Three sleepers were restored and others were replaced with Italian stones.

今日の仕事はブルーベリーとレモンの間の階段修復です.
枕木３本は修復しましたが、他は「ローマの石」と取り替えました。

GROWING VEGS IN THE POTAGER (大きくなってきたポタジェの野菜たち)

Vegs in the kitchen garden have been growing quite well.  

We bought seedlings of four kinds of Brassicaceae vegetable

 (Romanesco broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Stem broccoli and Red cabbage) 

at a local nursery and planted them in the cold frame in August.  

Some of the young plants were transplanted to the other beds

because they had reached to the top of the frame.

ポタジェの野菜がよく育っています。

4種類の野菜苗（ロマネスコ、メキャベツ、茎ブロッコリ、赤キャベツ）を

8月に近くのナーセリーで買ってフレームに植えていました。

その後フレームの天井まで育った苗は他の区画に移植しています。
