Tosa-Buntan is a cultivar of Citrus maxima, and it is is a speciality of the Tosa region in Shikoku Island. We planted a seedling in 2006 and it has been bearing fruit since 2018. The fruits have ripened, so I picked a few. The fruits compete with the acacia for its vivid yellow colour. I leave the fruits to rest for a while until they sweeten.
土佐文旦は文旦の一種で、四国土佐の名産です。2006年に苗を植えて、2018年から実をつけています。実が色づいてきたので少し収穫しました。ミモザの花と黄色の鮮やかさを競っています。実はすぐには食べず、しばらく保存して甘くなるのを待ちます。
This year, we have a lot of Citrus maxima ‘Tosa buntan’ fruits; they ripened in December and we picked some of them. We don't eat them right away, but keep them for a month or so so so they taste sweeter and then we can eat them. I think we can pick them little by little and eat them until early spring.
今年は土佐文旦の実がたくさんついています。12月になって熟してきて、一部を収穫しました。すぐには食べずに、1か月ほど保存しておくと味が甘くなるので、それから食べます。少しずつ収穫して早春まで食べられると思います。
The fruits of the three citrus varieties planted in the garden have ripened and are ready for harvesting. Lemons are mainly used for cooking. Tosa buntan (pomelo) is stored for a while after harvesting before eating. Kumquats are seedless and can be eaten whole. They can be enjoyed for a while.
庭に植えている3種類の柑橘類の実が熟してきて、収穫の時期に入りました。レモンは主に料理に使います。土佐文旦は収穫後しばらく保存してから食べます。キンカンは種なしなのでそのまま丸ごと食べられます。しばらく楽しめそうです。
It has been warm for December recently, but there is a strong cold spell coming next week. In the garden, the blueberry leaves are turning red and beautiful. Also, the citrus fruits are turning yellow and harvest time is just around the corner.
最近は12月にしては暖かい日が続いていますが、来週からは強い寒波が来るようです。庭ではブルーベリーの葉が赤く色づいてきれいです。また、柑橘類の実が黄色く色づいてきて、収穫の時期も目前です。

It's time to harvest the citrus fruits. At the end of every year, I harvest lemons and Citrus maxima fruits and store them in a cold room.
柑橘類の収穫の時期が来ました. 毎年年末にレモンや文旦の収穫をして、寒い部屋に保存しています.
Citrus maxima 'Tosa-bundan' is stored for about a month and then enjoyed until around March.
土佐文旦は、1か月ほど保存してから三月ごろまで楽しめます.
