WET WINTER (雨の多い冬)

Our gardens are soaked with rain. 

It is warmer this winter and there is much more rainfall, too.
The conical rain gauge in the garden often became full.
This is quite unusual. 

庭はびっしょり濡れています.

この冬は暖冬ですが、雨も多いのです.

円錐形の雨量計がしばしば満杯になります.

きわめて異例です.

What looks beautiful in this wet weather is a decoration of the central flower bed. 

It is decorated with scallops. 

They show more vivid colours when they are wet;

yellow, orange and purple. 

濡れて美しく見えるのは中央花壇の飾りです.
ヒオウギガイの貝殻は濡れると鮮やかになります、
黄色、オレンジ、そして紫色。

NOBLE SCALLOPS IN THE GARDEN (庭のヒオウギガイ)

There are noble scallops (Mimachlamys nobilis) for decorating bricks of the central raised bed in our garden.

A year ago, we brought back many scallops discarded at the nearby fishing port.  Colours of the scallops include yellow, orange, red, pink, purple and white.  They look dark and dull when they are dry, however, once they are wet, they become vividly colored.

Colorful scallops add colour in  a desolate wintry garden.

In a couple of months muscari flowers in the bed.  

Well grown foxgloves are waiting for spring in the bed.
