HOW TO MAKE A CANE TOP (支柱飾りの作り方)

I use cane tops to prevent face injury, especially eye injury.
At first I made cane tops with wooden spheres,
however, wooden cane tops were not easy to make holes on them
and they didn't last long, they cracked in a year or two.

支柱飾りは顔面、特に目のけがを防ぐために使っています.
最初は木の球を使って作っていましたが
穴をあけるのが難しくて、
しかも1，2年で割れて長持ちしませんでした.

Now I use polystyrene balls.
Making a hole is quite easy by using a hot iron rod.
It is easily painted with water-based paint. 

今はポリスチレンボールを使っています.
穴をあけるのは熱した鉄棒を使えばとっても簡単で
水性の塗料で綺麗に塗れます.

MAKING A BACKREST OF THE ARBOUR SEAT (アーバーのベンチに背もたれ取り付け)

I made welded wire fabric (WWF) arbour in the bluebell garden in 2016.
Last weekend I made a backrest of the bench, which made it more comfortable.
Ivy has almost covered WWF on both sides. 

In front of the arbour seat, I planted lavender and rosemary.

ブルーベルの庭に2016年に溶接金網を使って屋根付きベンチを作りました.
そのベンチに先週末背もたれをつけて、ぐっと座り心地がよくなりました.
ツタが溶接金網の両側をほとんど覆いました.
ベンチの前にはラベンダーとローズマリーを植えています.

BLUEBELL LEAVES ARE SPROUTING (ブルーベルの葉が伸びてきました)

Bluebell leaves are sprouting here and there in our garden; 

in the main garden, the new garden and the potager. 

ブルーベルの葉が庭のあちこちに伸びてきています.

Angelica japonica, the new member of our gardens, has been growing

throughout the winter season. 

Its large glossy leaves are so beautiful.

冬の間もずっと成長していました

Today I repainted the bench at the arbour of the new garden. 

We wish ivy grows well and cover the welded wire mesh arbour.

AN ARBOUR MADE OF WELDED WIRE FABRIC (溶接金網で作るアーバー)

I found a stunning ivy-clad shed in an article of GARDEN ILLUSTRATED (August issue). 

Ivy grows on the metal trellis installed just outside of the timber wall of the shed.  

It inspired me to make an arbour using welded wire fabric (WWF)

over the bench at the top of the new garden. 

WWF is cheap (3 pounds for 1×2 meter) , durable, and looks good 

because it rusts and become rustic.

 イギリスの園芸雑誌ガーデンイラストレーテッドの8月号の記事で

ツタに覆われた素敵な小屋をみつけました

この写真に触発されて、新しい庭のベンチの上に

溶接金網を使ってアーバーを作ろうと思いつきました

溶接金網は安くて（１×２メートルで400円程度）、耐久性があり、

そして錆びてくるのでいい感じになります

Five WWF were wired together using fine wire and were staked to a couple of rebars 

which were driven into the ground. 

A brown sheet was temporally fixed to its roof for sheltering from sunshine and rain. 

I am planting young plants of ivy in a few days at the base of the arbour. 

5枚の溶接金網を細い針金で結び、2本の地中に刺した鉄筋に固定しました

日よけと雨よけのために屋根に茶色のシートを仮に取りつけました

アーバーの足元に数日中にツタの苗木を植え付ける予定です
