庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.
　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

BLUE-PURPLE FLOWERS OF CLEMATIS 'SHISHIN-DEN' (クレマチス紫宸殿の青紫の花)

 

The Clematis ‘Shishinden’ is currently in bloom on the rose arch at the very top of the sleepers’ steps. ‘Shishinden’ is the name of the main hall at the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and it seems the plant was named for its noble purple hue and its large, elegant blooms. The flowers start out purple, turn blue as they mature, and finally become light blue. As there are still some buds left, it looks as though we shall be able to enjoy these beautiful flowers for a while yet.


クレマチスの紫宸殿が今枕木の階段の一番上のバラのアーチで咲いています。紫宸殿は京都御所の神殿の名前で、この花の高貴な紫色や大きくて上品な花の姿から命名されたようです。咲き始めは紫色で、咲き進むと青色になって、最後は水色になります。まだ蕾もあるのでしばらくこの美しい花を楽しめそうです。

CLEMATIS TAKASE IN THE SIDE YARD (横庭に咲くクレマチス高瀬）)

 

Clematis ‘Takase’ has started to flower on the welded wire mesh installed on the side yard garden wall. Some clematis have died from exposure to the western sun, but Takase is flowering well. It is dark reddish purple at the beginning of flowering, but the colour is gradually changing to lighter.


横庭の壁面に設置した溶接金網でクレマチスの「高瀬」が咲き始めました。西日が当たって何種類かのクレマチスは枯れてしまいましたが、高瀬は元気に咲いています。咲き始めは濃い赤紫色ですが、だんだん色は明るい色に変わっていきます。

PURPLE FLOWERS AND FRUITS OF VINES IN AUTUMN (秋のつる植物の紫の花と実)

 

Several varieties of clematis and two varieties of akebia are growing on a sunny wall with welded wire mesh providing scaffolding for the vines.

The clematis is the only Takase in flower at the moment. They are beautiful purple flowers.

The akebi flowers in April, and the fruits usually start to change colour from the end of September to the beginning of October, but this year, due to the record heat and length of the summer, the fruits are finally starting to change colour now. The beautiful purple fruits are a cultivar called ‘Purple Crystal’. There is also a native variety, which produces reddish, sweet potato-coloured fruits. The latter is grown from seeds collected in the mountains.


日当たりのよい壁際に溶接金網でつる性植物の足場を提供して、クレマチスを数種類、ミツバアケビを2品種育てています。

クレマチスは今、高瀬だけが咲いています。紫色の美しい花です。

アケビは4月に花を咲かせて、例年は9月末から10月初めに実が色づいてきますが、今年は記録的な夏の暑さと長さのせいか、やっと今実が色づいてきました。紫色の美しい実は「紫水晶」という栽培品種です。それと、赤みが強くてサツマイモのような色の実をつける原種のミツバアケビがあります。後者は山で採取した種から育てたものです。

WILD CLEMATIS BRINGS AUTUMN (仙人草が秋をつれてくる)

 

Clematis terniflora (or Sweet Autumn Clematis) has started to flower. This wild clematis is a common vine in the wilds in Japan. It blooms at the end of summer every year and is one of the flowers that bring autumn with them. 

The seeds, with their fluffy hairs like a hermit's beard, fly and grow everywhere in our garden. We always remove them where they are not needed. 

This year the vines have gone up the Mube (Stauntonia hexaphylla) arch at the entrance to the bluebell garden and are now starting to flower. It has lots of small white flowers and is very beautiful.


センニンソウの花が咲き始めました。野生のクレマチスで、野山にもよく咲いているつる性植物です。毎年夏の終わりに咲き、秋をつれてくる花の一つです。

仙人の髭のような綿毛のある種が飛んで、私たちの庭でもあちこちに育ちます。不要な所はいつも取り除いています。

今年はブルーベルの庭の入り口にあるムベのアーチに蔓が上って、今花が咲き始めています。小さい白い花がたくさん咲いて、とても綺麗です。

BLUE BORDER IN EARLY MAY (五月初めの青の花壇)

 

The blue flower border on the east side of the main garden, with the arbour seat at its centre, has blue and purple flowers throughout the four seasons.


At the beginning of May, catmint starts to bloom. It smells very refreshing to the slightest touch. The best time to see it is during the next month.


Another flower in bloom is the Clematis florida (Asian virginsbower). he flowers are long-lasting and can be enjoyed for a while.


メインガーデンの東側にある、屋根付きベンチを中心にした青の花壇は、四季を通じて青や紫色の花が咲きます。

5月の初めにはキャットミントが咲き始めます。ちょっと触れるだけでとても爽やかな香りがします。これから一か月間が見頃です。

もう一つ咲いている花は、テッセンです。クレマチスの一種で紫のしべが特徴です。花もちがよいので当分楽しめます。

CLEMATIS 'SHI-SHIN-DEN' (クレマチス紫宸殿)

 

Clematis ’Shi-shin-Den' delights us with its large, beautiful blue-purple flowers every year around the end of April.

The flowers are reddish purple at the start of flowering, gradually changing to blue.


クレマチス紫宸殿は毎年四月の下旬ごろに美しい青紫の大きな花をさかせて私たちを楽しませてくれます。

花色は咲き始めは赤みを帯びた紫色ですが、次第に青色に変わっていきます。

TULIP- & BELL-SHAPED CLEMATISES (チューリップ咲きとベル型のクレマチスたち)

 

The new flower bed for clematis was made just beside our house with welded wire mesh fence for support. 

Late-flowering clematises with tulip and bell shaped cute flowers have started to

bloom in June. 


家のすぐ横に誘引するためのフェンスを溶接金網で設置したクレマチス用の花壇をつくりました. 

遅咲き（新枝咲き）で、チューリップや釣り鐘の形の可愛らしい花の咲くクレマチスたちが六月に咲き始めました.

ASIAN VIRGIN'S BOWER (テッセンの花)

 

Asian Virgin's Bower (Clematis florida) is on the Hardenbergia fence, which blooms in early spring. Flower buds are attached to the vine in rows, and some are starting to open.  Many flowers are in full bloom. 

This flower was introduced from China in the 17th century and has already been popular in Japan for hundreds of years.


テッセンは早春に咲くハーデンベルギアのフェンスにあります. ツルには花の蕾が並んでついていて、開花し始めのものもあり、たくさんの花はもう満開になっています. 

この花は江戸時代の初期に中国から導入されて、すでに数百年親しまれている植物です.
