REMOVAL OF CENTRAL FLOWERBED IN PROGRESS: RELOCATION OF OBELISK (中央花壇撤去作業は進行中：オベリスクの移設)

 

The removal of the central flower bed is progressing slowly. The obelisk has now been relocated.

This obelisk is made of aluminium and has a concrete block foundation. The foundation and the main body were moved to the installation site as one unit, and a trench was dug and the concrete block section buried in the ground.

A new landscape has appeared in front of the brick wall bench.

中央花壇の撤去作業はゆっくりと進行中です。今回はオベリスクの移設をしました。

このオベリスクはアルミ製で基礎にコンクリートブロックを使用しています。基礎ごと一体として設置場所へ移動し、溝を掘ってコンクリートブロック部分を地中に埋めました。

レンガ塀のベンチの前に新しい風景が現れました。

THE LAST RED ROSE HAS BLOOMED (最後の赤いバラ開花)

 

The red climbing rose 'Excelsa', also known as 'Red Dorothy Perkins', has flowered and is now in bloom, which I have trained to the bronze obelisk in the central flower bed in the Main garden. The flowers are bright red with a hint of pink. The afternoon sun makes them glow a dazzling red. In the central flower bed, pink campanulas and white laceflowers are also in bloom and the area is still very lively. 

主庭の中央花壇にあるブロンズ色のオベリスクに誘引した赤いつるバラのエクセルサ、別名レッドドロシーパーキンスが開花しました. 花色は少しピンクがかった真っ赤です. 午後の日差しで眩いばかりに真っ赤に輝いています. 中央花壇ではピンクのカンパニュラ、白いレースフラワーなども咲いて、まだまだにぎやかです.

FLOWERS IN THE MORNING OF LATE MAY (五月下旬の庭の花々)

 

It was sunny all day today, with a high of 28°C (82°F) and sweaty daytime temperatures. I avoided working in the garden during the day and worked in the garden in the morning and evening. Early in the morning, before the sun has yet to shine in the main garden, the garden looks beautiful. Some flowers (such as water lilies) do not open until the sun rises, but it is a cool and pleasant time with temperatures less than 20°C. 

今日は一日晴れて、最高気温が28℃まで上がり、昼間は汗ばむ陽気でした. 昼間の庭仕事は避けて、午前中と夕方に庭で作業をしました. 早朝、まだ主庭に日が射す前の時間、庭は美しい表情を見せます. 日が昇らないと開かない花（スイレンなど）もありますが、気温が20度以下で涼しくて気持ちのよい時間です.

A HOMEMADE GARDEN OBELISK (自作のオベリスク)

 I looked online for an obelisk to train climbing roses, but I couldn't find a nice one. So I decided to make one myself. The height is about 2 meters. 

On top of the obelisk, I placed a bronze statue of Artemis. 

（When we were young, Artemis must have made you reject me.）

バラを誘引するオベリスクをネットで探しましたが、素敵なものが見つかりませんでした. それで、自分で作ることにしました. 高さは約2メートルです。

オベリスクの上にはアルテミスのブロンズ像を載せました. 

（われら未だ若き日、アルテミスが君をして我を拒絶せしめたり）

And I planed a climbing rose 'Excelsa’ (or ''Red Dorothy Perkins') at the base of the obelisk. 

そして、つるバラの「エクセルサ」（別名レッドドロシーパーキンス）を脇に植え付けました.

AN OBELISK SUPPORT OF A STANDARD ROSE (スタンダードバラのオベリスク形支柱)

A support of a standard rose in the kitchen garden was made of bamboo
and painted blue.  

The support was also used for training of vegetables.

I decided to make a new support because the bamboo support had been rotting.
So, I designed an obelisk-shape support made of wood.  

Today, I have finished making and painting the support.
It looks nice, isn't it?

ポタジェのスタンダード仕立てのバラの支柱は竹でできていて、青く塗っています。
野菜を誘引するのにも使用しています。

その支柱も壊れてきているので、新しい支柱をつくることにしました。
それで木製のオベリスク形の支柱をデザインしました。

今日、組み立てと塗装を終えました。
ちょっと素敵でしょ？
