Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

POTTING ROSES IN THE CENTRAL FLOWER BED (中央花壇のバラの鉢上げ)

We are gradually preparing for the removal of the central flowerbed. There have been so many terribly cold and rainy days recently that we haven't been able to get any work done in the garden.

This time we dug up the roses growing in the central flowerbed and potted up the roses to be left behind. We also dug up the rose that we think is a seedling that has grown near the Scarborough Fair on the sleeper steps and planted them in a large pot.

We are hoping to get the work done bit by bit and have it ready in time for May.

中央花壇の撤去に向けて、少しずつ準備をしています。ひどく寒い日や雨の日が最近多くて庭仕事がはかどりません。

今回は中央花壇に育てているバラたちの掘り上げや、残すバラの鉢植えをしました。枕木の階段にあるスキャボロフェアの近くに生えてきた実生と思われるバラも掘り上げて、大きな鉢に植え付けました。

作業を少しずつでも進めて、5月には間に合わせたいと思っています。
