Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

GREEN CURTAIN OF VINE PLANTS (つる植物の緑のカーテン)

When the afternoon sun shines through the windows in summer, the room becomes very hot, but if you hang curtains made of plant leaves on the outside of the windows, the sunlight is blocked to a comfortable degree, and green light filters through the leaves into the room, making it a pleasant place to be.

Outside the large window of our garden room, we have created green curtains using climbing Potato vine and Passion flower. These are perennial plants that are pruned back in winter, but by early summer, they grow many vines and become lush. They are also resistant to pests and diseases, making them ideal climbing plants for green curtains.

真夏の西日が窓から差すと部屋がとても暑くなりますが、窓の外側に植物の葉でカーテンをすると日差しが適度に遮られ、葉を通して緑の光が部屋に入り、部屋を居心地よくしてくれます。

ガーデンルームの大きな窓の外にはツルハナナスとトケイソウで緑のカーテンを作っています。多年草で冬に枝を短く剪定しますが、初夏にはたくさんのつるを伸ばして茂ります。病害虫もあまりなく、緑のカーテンに適したつる植物です。
