My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc.
In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.
COOL DOWN IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER WITH BLUE FLOWERS (猛暑の夏にブルーの花で涼感を)
Here are some photos of blue flowers in bloom in mid-summer, along with a video. I never go out in the garden during the day when the sun is strong, but I do go around the garden in the mornings and evenings when it is cooler and the sun is not shining. The gate at the bottom of the garden, painted in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, has trained potato vine, with its cool blue and white flowers shimmering in the air.
Dwarf crapemyrtle and Vitex trifolia ‘Purprea’ are in flower on the way up the steps. Dwarf crapemyrtle has pretty, almost purple flowers, while Vitex trifolia “Purprea” has pale purple undersides to its leaves and blue or lilac flowers in August.
The chaste tree in the main garden continues to produce beautiful blue flowers from the start of flowering. The potato vine and passion flower, which have been trained up against the garden room wall, provide a green curtain against the western sun.
