Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

THE BEAR APPEARED AGAIN IN THE GARDEN (庭にまた熊が出現！)

The bear topiary had not been pruned at all this season, so it had completely lost its shape. So I pruned it. To avoid the intense heat, I did it in the evening when the sun was no longer shining. It took about an hour to restore it to the shape of a bear. I'm not very skilled at this, but I would like to continue maintaining it as a focal point of the garden. Real bears have been causing damage to people in various places this year, which is very worrying, but the bear in my garden is not a cause for concern.

熊のトピアリーは今シーズンは一度も剪定していなかったので、すっかり形が分からなくなってしまいました。そこで剪定をしました。猛暑を避けるために日が当たらなくなった夕方に行いました。約1時間かけて熊の形に戻りました。素人ですのであまり上手くはないですが、庭の一つのフォーカルポイントとして手入れを今後もしていきたいと思います。本物の熊たちは特に今年はあちこちで人に被害を与えていて大変心配ですが、庭の熊さんはそんな心配はありません。
