PRUNING & TRAINING OF BRICK WALL ROSES (レンガ塀のバラの剪定と誘引)

I pruned and trained the climbing roses on the brick wall yesterday.

昨日、レンガ塀のツルバラを剪定誘引しました。

I found a larva of Anoplophora malasiaca ( 'Teppo-Mushi' in Japanese) 

in the branch of Rosa 'Gertrude Jekyll'.  

This pest may let a whole rose plant wither. 

Last May, Rosa 'Crown Princess Margareta' on the brick wall died as a whole.  

Fortunately, it withered only one of four branches this time.  

ゴマダラカミキリの幼虫（テッポウムシ）を

バラ「ガートルード・ジェキル」の枝の中に見つけました. 

この害虫はバラの株全体を枯らすこともあります.

昨年5月にはレンガ塀のバラ「クラウン・プリンセス・マルガリータ」が枯れました.

幸運にも今回は4本の枝のうちの1本だけで済みました. 

The number of branches of Rosa 'Constant Spry' (on the left ) is more than six, 

however, that of Rosa 'Gertrude Jekyll'　(on the right) is only three.  

レンガ塀の左側のバラ「コンスタンス・スプライ」の枝の数は6本以上ありますが、

「ガートルード・ジェキル」の枝数は3本だけです. 

I planted new young plant in the plot 

where Rosa 'Crown Princess Margareta' had grown and died last year.  

去年枯れた「クラウン・プリンセス・マルガリータ」のあった場所に、

新しい苗木を植えつけました. 

I really recognized the awfulness of Anoplophora malasiaca once again.

テッポウムシの恐ろしさを改めて認識しました.
