Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

FLAGRANT FLOWERS OF HOSTA (香るホスタの花)

We grow six varieties of hosta in our garden.
Hosta 'Fragrant Fire' has started to flower last.
It has leaves with marginal variegation,
and its light lavender-colour flowers has slight flagrance.

I cut one of flower spikes and put it in a bottle of my office.

庭では6種類のギボウシを育てています.
そのうちのフレグラント・ファイアーが最後に咲きだしました.
葉には白い縁取りがあり、
その淡いラベンダー色の花はかすかに香ります.
花を一本切って仕事場の瓶に挿しました.

PRUNING APPLE IN THE POTAGER IN PREPARATION FOR TYPHOON ATTACK (台風来襲に備えてリンゴの剪定)

The strong typhoon 'Jongdari' is coming from the east.

This is a quite rare course of typhoon (from east to west),

and this is, I think, the first typhoon that comes from the east in my life.

I pruned espalier apple in the potager today
because long shoots are liable to be broken by strong wind.

今日ポタジェのエスパリエのリンゴを剪定しました.

長い枝は強風で折れやすいためです.

WHITE FLOWERS IN MID-SUMMER AND BEES (真夏の白い花々とミツバチ)

An intense heat wave has been covered us
since the end of rainy season three weeks ago.
There was no rain and the high temperature was over 33 deg.
My wife watered our gardens every day,
and she has got summer heat fatigue at last.

ひどい熱波が梅雨明けから3週間ずっとおおっていて
雨は降らず、最高気温は33度以上.
家内は毎日庭の水やりで
ついに夏バテ.

There are several kinds of white flowers in the central flower bed.
They are flowering with vigor!
And bees fly from flower to flower.
