KITTIES CANNOT JUNP OVER GARDEN GATE ANY MORE (猫ちゃん庭の扉はもう飛び越えられないよ)
Our garden is included in everyday walking routes of some cats.
They cause considerable nuisance.
We don't welcome them, however, they don't understand it.
So, we have closed the space over the gate using welded wire mesh.

猫の散歩道になっているうちの庭、
猫はいろいろ迷惑を起こします.
歓迎していないことを、しかし、彼らは理解していません.

こうするより他に仕方ないですね.

AUTUMN FLOWERING ACACIA (秋咲きのミモザ)
Acacia 'Golden Top' is now beginning to flower.
Its yellow colour cheers us up.
Because autumn-flowering acacia is rare, it's eye-catching.

A TRIP TO YANAGAWA (柳川を訪ねて)
I visited Yanagawa, the city of water.
Yanagawa is famous for riding the boat going around a historic canal
surrounding Yanagawa Castle from the Edo period.
The wide and narrow waterways' network forming a unique landscape.
I spent high school days in this city,
and there live many friends.
I enjoyed 'Unagi no Seiro-Mush'
(Dipped and boiled eel on the soy-based sauce flavored rice then steamed)
which is a famous and popular traditional dish in Yanagawa.
And had a good time drinking with my high school friends at night.
It's a birthday of one of the friends.. Happy Birthday!

柳川は柳川城のお堀を舟で回る川下りが有名です.
網の目を作る広い堀や狭い水路が独特の景観を作り出しています.
私は高校生活をこの町で過ごし、たくさんの友人がいます.
柳川の有名なうなぎのセイロ蒸しを食べて
夜は高校時代の友人と飲んで楽しい時間を過ごしました.

STEMS OF DOGWOOD ARE BECOMING VIVID-COLORED (色鮮やかになるサンゴミズキ)
It's already late October.
Cherry sage is blooming for a long time in a herb bed.
Beyond the herb bed,
leaves of dogwood has started to change their colours.

すでに十月も下旬、
ハーブ花壇では長い間チェリーセージが咲いています.
その向こうにはサンゴミズキの葉が色を変えてきています.
Look closely, stems of dogwood has become yellow and red,
while they were green in summer.
The season is changing.
よく見るとサンゴミズキの茎が黄色や赤になっています.

READING IN AN ARBOUR SEAT IN AUTUMN (秋の一日、庭のアーバーシートで読書)
A comfortable season for reading in a garden has come.
The maximum temperature was 21C today, and it was dry and partly sunny.
I spent most of the day time in our gardens.
I brought a dark brown cushion and a book to the arbour seat.
There are a large raised bed in front of the arbour seat,
in which lantana, rose and Mexican meadow sage are in bloom.
I chose a novel of Yukio Mishima 'Spring Snow' for reading.
I bought this secondhand book published in 1971 ten years ago.
I’m pleased with its purple metallic hard cover.
Old kana orthography was used in this book,
and I feel as if I read a very old book.
庭での読書がとても心地よい季節がやってきました.
今日の最高気温は21度で、空気は乾いて晴れたり曇ったり.
一日の大半を庭で過ごしました.
こげ茶色のクッションと本をアーバーシートに持ち込みます.
アーバーシートの前には大きなレイズドベッドがあって、
ランタナやバラ、アメジストセージなどが咲いています.
読書には三島由紀夫の小説「春の雪」を選びました.
この古本は1971年の出版で、10年ほど前に買いました.
背表紙のメタリックな紫色を気に入っています.
旧仮名遣いで書かれていて、
とても古い本を読んでいるような気分になります.
