THE RAINY SEASON HAS ENDED (梅雨が明けました)
The rainy season in northern Kyushu has ended. This is an unusually early end of the rainy season, which has never happened before. It was a beautiful morning and the temperature rose to hot. The rain cover on the white iron bench has been removed. A long summer of severe heat will continue from now on.
九州北部の梅雨が明けました。今までにない異例の早さの梅雨明けです。朝からいい天気で気温も上がり暑くなりました。白いアイアンベンチにかけていた雨除けのカバーを外しました。これから厳しい暑さの長い夏が続きます。

BLUE FLOWERS AT THE END OF JUNE (六月末の青い花々)
June is almost over and the hydrangea flowers are almost finished, so I floated a few cut flowers in a small fountain.
六月ももうすぐ終わりで、アジサイの花も終わりそうなので、小さな噴水に少しだけ切り花にして浮かべました。
In the shade garden, the hosta (Mediovariegata) is starting to flower. To the right, the potato vine is also starting to flower on the garden room wall, and to the left, the agapanthus are starting to flower in the blue border flower bed. The seasons are changing and midsummer is almost here.
シェードガーデンではギボウシ（Mediovariegata）の花が咲き始めています。その右側ではガーデンルームの壁でツルハナナス（potato vine）も咲き始め、左側では青のボーダー花壇でアガパンサスが咲き始めています。季節が移り真夏ももうすぐです。

WHITE LANTANA IN RAINY SEASON (梅雨の時期の白いランタナ)
White lantana has started to flower this month and there are many in bloom. They are beautiful clusters of small white flowers with yellow eyes. It is an easy plant to grow with few pests and diseases. The branches can be cut back each year to the same size. In our garden it grows by the topmost steps and at the edge of the bluebell garden where the potager can be seen.
白いランタナが今月咲き始めて、たくさん咲いています。黄色い目をもつ白い小花が集まったきれいな花です。病害虫がほとんどなく、育てやすい植物です。毎年枝を切り戻して、同じサイズに整えられます。私たちの庭では、一番上にある階段の脇と、ポタジェが見えるブルーベルの庭の淵で育てています。

SEEDHEADS OF ECHIUM CANDICANS (エキウムカンディカンスのシードヘッド)
Echium candicans is a perennial herb native to the Madeira Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It is characterised by its many spikes of beautiful blue flowers and is known to attract many bees.
It has a lifespan of three to five years and multiplies by germination from spilt seeds; I happened to buy a seedling online 10 years ago and have been growing it ever since.
Its large flower spikes are very showy, even after the flowers have finished.

エキウムカンディカンスは大西洋にあるマデイラ諸島原産の多年草です。美しい青い花をたくさんつける花穂が特徴で、多くのハナバチを呼び寄せることでも知られています。
寿命は３年から５年程度で、こぼれ種から発芽して増えていきます。10年前にたまたまネット上で苗を購入して、それからずっと育てています。
花が終わったあとも、その大きな花穂がとても存在感があります。

PICKING DWARF MINI-TOMATOES (矮性ミニトマトの収穫)
Mini tomato seeds were sown in February and seedlings planted in April. The Mamma Mia variety planted this time is a dwarf variety, which grows to a height of about 1 metre and bears fruit. It does not need a high support and can be grown in flowerpots or hanging baskets.
It has many flowers in May, and in June the berries grow larger and gradually ripen to a reddish colour. The berries are slightly elongated in shape and have a slightly thicker skin.
ミニトマトの種を２月に撒いて、４月に苗を植え付けました。今回植えたマンマミーアという品種は矮性の品種で、草丈は１メートルほどで実がつきます。高い支柱は不要で、植木鉢やハンギングバスケットなどでも育てられます。
５月にはたくさん花がついて、６月になって実が大きくなり、少しずつ赤く熟してきました。実は少し細長い形で、少し皮が厚い感じです。

STRAWBERRIES ARE FOLLOWED BY GROUND CHERRY BERRIES (イチゴのあとにホオズキトマトの実がついた)
Last October, I planted strawberry and ground cherry plants together in a large pot. Then, in May this year, a lot of strawberries started to bear fruit. When the strawberries are finished, the ground cherry start to flower and now there are many fruits. There is a round fruit inside a pouch-like calyx, which is eaten when it has ripened to a yellow colour. They are sweet and sour and delicious. I am looking forward to the day when they are ripe and ready to eat.
去年の10月に大きな鉢にイチゴとホオズキトマトの苗を一緒に植えました。そして、今年5月にはたくさんイチゴの実がなりました。イチゴが終わったら、ホオズキトマトの花が咲き始めて、いまはたくさんホオズキの形の実がついています。袋の中に丸い実があり、ごれが黄色く熟すと食べられます。甘酸っぱくておいしいです。熟して食べる日が楽しみです。

GERANIUM IN THE MORNING SUN (朝日さすゲラニウムの花)
It is the longest day of the year, but it is also the rainy season, with many cloudy and rainy days and few days when the morning sun shines in the garden. The potted geranium is placed under the arch of the 'Angela' climbing rose, as it droops when exposed to the rain. Around 7am, the morning sun shines in the garden for the first time in a long time, brightly illuminating the geranium flowers. The potato vine on the garden room wall has just started to flower and is also beginning to shine in the morning sun. This is the main garden in the morning, reminiscent of midsummer in between the rainy season.
一年で一番日が長い季節ですが、梅雨の時期でもあり曇りや雨の日が多く、庭に朝日が差す日は少ないです。鉢植えのゲラニウムは雨に当たると枝垂れてしまうので、ツルバラのアンジェラのアーチの下に置いています。朝7時ごろ、久しぶりに朝日が庭にさして、ゲラニウムの花を明るく照らしています。ガーデンルームの壁のツルハナナスはやっと花が咲き始めたばかりですが、やはり朝日が当たって輝き始めています。梅雨の合間の真夏を思わせる朝の主庭です。
