Echium candicans, commonly known as pride of Madeira, grows its flower spikes
in the border, just beside the arbour seat.
There are more than a dozen of spikes this year.
The spike consists of a huge number of tiny slightly-purplish blue flowers,
and it sometimes grows up to two feet long.
Its height is already more than six feet.

花穂は時に60センチにもなり、
草丈はすでに180センチを越えています.
そのため、とてもゴージャスで庭のフォーカルポイントにもなります.
What a great plant for the garden. I may have to see if I can plant one and hope it does as well as yours.
ReplyDeleteEchium candicans is not popular yet in Japan.
DeleteI looked at it for the first time in my friend's garden, and was fascinated by it. I happened to find a young plant on the web.
I find many self-sown seedlings around it, and I pot them up and give some of them to my friend.
