Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

BLUE FLOWERS IN CENTRAL BED (中央花壇の青い花)

February is the time of the year when flowers are scarce and the central flowerbed is a little bare, but the blue colour of the hyacinths and violas is very beautiful.

The hyacinths were bought as sprouting bulbs, put in a plastic basket and planted in the central flower bed. In the summer and autumn they completely lose their leaves and it is easy to lose track of where I have planted them, so I planted them in a basket in the flower bed. I have also planted geraniums in terracotta pots and buried them.

The violas, which will be in bloom until May, are planted in the borders near the garden room. I hope they will grow up to the time of the open garden.

2月は花の少ない季節で、中央花壇もさみしいですが、ヒアシンスとビオラの青い色がとても綺麗です.

ヒアシンスは芽がでている球根を買って、プラスチックのカゴに入れて中央花壇に植え付けました. 夏から秋は完全に葉がなくなるので、どこに植えたか行方不明になってしまうので、カゴに入れた状態で花壇に植えました. 他に、ゲラニウムなども素焼きの鉢に植えた状態で埋め込んでいます.

5月ごろまで咲いてくれるビオラも、花壇のいちばんガーデンルーム寄りに苗を植えました. オープンガーデンの頃には大きく育っていると思います.
