Petit English Garden of MARPLE & POIROT

My wife and I started gardening in Fukuoka (Japan) in 2003. There was nothing but muddy clayey sloping land. At the beginning we made several structure such as steps and paths, and planted turf, fruit trees, roses, herbs etc. In 2010, we visited several famous English gardens, including Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Mottisfont Abbey Garden and Hidcote Manor Garden. We were shocked by the glory of those gardens. Since then, we have been trying to make small but glorious gardens by ourselves.

庭の紹介

　夫婦で庭づくりを福岡の郊外で2003年に始めました.　赤土むきだしの斜面にまず階段や園路をつくって芝をはり、果樹やバラ、ハーブなどを植えました.

　2010年にイギリスの有名なガーデンの、シシングハースト、モティスフォントアビー、ヒドコートマナーなどを回り、その素晴らしさに圧倒され、それから自分たちで小さくても素晴らしい庭をめざして庭づくりをつづけています.

SUMMER MORNING GARDEN WORK (夏の朝の庭仕事)

The recent summers have been so hot that it is not suitable for working in the garden during the day, but if there is no rain, watering is essential for vegetables and potted plants. Watering is solely Marple's responsibility, and she does it in the cooler morning hours and in the evening. Every weekend in mid-summer, the blueberries are harvested, which is also done early in the morning. During the day we spend time inside the house, but jam-making is done at the weekend. Last weekend we picked a lot of blueberries, so we made about half of them into jam.

昨今の夏はとても暑くなっていて、日中は庭仕事には向かないのですが、雨が降らないと野菜や鉢植えの植物などは水やりが欠かせません。もっぱら水やりはマープルさんの担当で、朝の涼しい時間や夕方などにやっています。真夏の毎週末はブルーベリーの収穫ですが、これも早朝に行っています。日中は家の中で過ごしますが、ジャムづくりを週末にしています。先週末はたくさんブルーベリーが採れたので、半分ぐらいジャムにしました。
