POTAGER WAS PREPARED FOR WINTER (ポタジェの冬支度)

It was sunny and warm today, 

and we enjoyed gardening in the garden.

今日はお天気がよくて暖かく、庭仕事を楽しみました.

At first we pruned espalier apple in the potager. 

最初に、ポタジェの垣根仕立てのリンゴの剪定をしました.

And then, we cut asparagus forage. 

次に、アスパラガスを切りました.

And at last, Rosa banksiae on the base of the gazebo was pruned. 

ガゼボの下のモッコウバラの剪定もしました.

So, we almost finished preparation for winter in the potager. 

ということで、ポタジェの冬支度も概ね終わりました.

The remaining of gardening jobs in the potager are harvesting potato and planting young plants of lavender. 

ポタジェの残る庭仕事は、ジャガイモの収穫とラベンダーの苗の植え付けです.

COOKING BORAGE LEAVES (ボリジの葉っぱの料理)

Borage is growing well in the terraced herb beds.
It has grown from self-sown seeds.
Growing in autumn is unusual in our garden.
I picked some leaves and my wife used them to garnish roast beef.
It's taste was quite plain and I think it is useful for many purposes.

ボリジがハーブの段々畑でよく育っています.
こぼれ種からです.
秋に育つのはうちの庭では異例です.
少し葉っぱを収穫して、家内がロースとビーフの付け合せにしました.
味は淡白で、いろんな使い方がありそうです.

CHRISTMAS HOLLY (セイヨウヒイラギ)

Christmas market at Hakata station has already started
and Chrisitmas season has come.
Christmas holly in our garden bears a number of red fruits.
They look stunning in contrast with dark green leaves. 

クリスマスマーケットが博多駅で始まって、クリスマスの季節となりました.

セイヨウヒイラギはたくさんの赤い実をつけて、

濃いグリーンの葉の中で輝いて見えます.

Roses and sages are still blooming beside the holly.

セイヨウヒイラギの傍では、バラやサルビアの花がまだ咲いています.

"REIWA OPEN GARDEN" SCHEME (令和オープンガーデンの会)

The "Reiwa Open Garden" scheme has started today.
('Reiwa' is a Japanese name of the new era of the new emperor)

There was an old open garden scheme in Fukuoka and Saga area,
and the scheme was dissolve for the moment
and reorganised as "Reiwa Open Garden". 

This scheme consists of 25 gardens as of now.

There was an annual meeting of the scheme today,
and we (i.e. our gardens) joined the scheme.

The new home-page has started today
with a blog of photographs of members.

本日、令和オープンガーデンが発足しました.
(新しい時代の令和が名称に使用されました）

もともと福岡と佐賀のオープンガーデンの会がありましたが一旦解散し、
新たに令和オープンガーデンに衣替え、
本日の時点で25の庭が参加です.

本日総会が開催され、我が家もこの会に参加しました.

新しいホームページも正式にスタートし

THIS MORNING (今日の朝)

It was cold and the sky was so beautiful this morning. 

The sun shine was much softer than in summer, 

and it's warm in the cold morning. 

Flowers were still wonderful 

and autumn colours such as red leaves 

and stems looked stunning in the morning sunshine. 

今朝は寒くて空はとても綺麗で、

太陽の光は夏よりずっと軟らかく、

寒い朝はとても暖かく感じました.

花々はまだまだとっても綺麗で

赤い葉や枝などの秋の色が朝日の中で素晴らしく見えます.

I'm looking forward to meeting old friends 

at the high-school reunion this evening.

ROSE GARDEN IN OSAKA (大阪のバラ園)

I came back form Osaka this evening. 

There was an annual meeting of the society I belong to. 

It was held at the beautiful historical building 

'Osaka City Central Public Hall' in Nakano-shima.

Large stained glass and ceiling were stunning. 

 

 

 

 

 

I visited Nakanoshima Rose Garden in front of the Hall.  

Some roses were in full bloom even in late autumn. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

公会堂の前にあるバラ園を訪ねました.

晩秋なのに満開のバラもありました.
