The frames for the raised beds in the potager were made from two-by-four boards and plywood panels, but they did not last very long and had to be rebuilt every few years. After searching for a more durable, easy-to-make and inexpensive material, we turned our attention to metal siding panels used for the exterior walls of houses. As they are relatively lightweight and easy to cut, we decided to try using them to build the frame.
The panels are assembled using aluminium angles and stainless steel bolts and nuts. These were used for the previous assembly and have not rusted at all, so we reused them.
The raised bed is taller than before because of the wider panel width, but the thickness is thinner so it doesn't look so oppressive. We decided to keep the original beige colour of the panels and not paint them.
ポタジェのレイズドベッドの枠はツーバイフォーの板やコンパネなどを使って作っていましたが、あまり長持ちせずに数年ごとに作りかえる必要がありました. もっと長持ちして、製作しやすく、安価な材料をさがしてきましたが、家の外壁に使われている金属製のサイディングパネルに注目しました. 比較的軽量で切断も容易なことから、今回はこれを使って枠を作ってみることにしました.
パネルの組み立てには、アルミ製のアングルとステンレス製のボルト・ナットを使います. これは前回の組み立てに使用していたもので、まったく錆びたりしていないので再利用しました。
パネル幅が広いため、レイズドベッドの高さが今までより高くなりましたが、厚みが薄いのでそれほど圧迫感もない感じに仕上がりました. 色はパネルのもともとのベージュ色のまま塗装はしないことにしました.

The frames of the four pentagonal raised beds at the back of the potager will be updated in the next year or so.
ポタジェ奥の4個の五角形レイズドベッドの枠もまた来年までぐらいに更新するつもりです.
